State of the Union, 1999

It's been one hella'va decade.

9/11 happened. It changed everything and of course wars are very expensive. Usually wars help an economy, sad as that is to think about. WWII pulled us out of the depression. but today that does not work. The banking crises happened because banks were given free reign and were fast and loose at granting loans and pulling people into borrowing much more money than they could afford. The government did not step it to stop it or enforce any controls. So a combination of those things led to where we are now. Unfortunately the US economy effects the whole world.
