So what are you all up to with Moviestorm??? I've watched all the movies now and I need more to watch - so get busy guys. I am finishing Happy Hour - real hard to make a one minute movie. I also just purchased ANTICS 3D V2.5 which is great but very difficult to learn. I plan to use both moviestorm and Antics but I will tell you right now even though I am glad I am also learning this program, Moviestorm when finished is truely much better and easier to use. If anyone is interested as I go along learning it, I will make some comparisons between the two.

I have a few films I am working on...with all of them, I just get tired making them.

Within the hour I plan to come up with a great idea and start it with the means to finish it.

I've taken a bit of a break, I'll admit. I've viewed a few movies, but not as many as you, Lucinda... I'd like to say, thanks for being such a good audience for everyone!

I've wondered about Antics, but figured I'd chose one or the other... and I think in time MS is going to come through with what I'm wanting (for a better price to boot!)... and the SF folks are a friendly bunch! Anyway, I'd enjoy hearing your general impressions as you go along.

I've been keeping scratch-sheets of ideas, and might just start in with something of a little substance soon.

The next big thing: MOVIESTORM!

My "day-job" schedule is centered around the weekend, for the most part, so I'm currently at work (yes, at 4-something AM on a Saturday).

That said, I've finished sketching out the plotline of the sequel to Moonlight Sarah-nade. And the three-quel, as well (yeah, I'm going trilogy). So, I'll be firing up celtx and starting my first pass (doubtless of many) on the script, any time now.

So... deep in story phase, I guess, is what I'm up to now.

I'm working on my "Detective Dedlie in the Missing Coffee" movie right now. I just casted all of the roles, and I'm awaiting the voiceovers so I can start making it in Moviestorm.

However, one of the voice actors hasn't gotten back to me since I cast him, so I may need a re-cast.

All-in-all, if everything goes to plan, it should be out next month (October).

Remember that film I said I would start? Yeah...I made it and hate it. However, there is this really interesting piece of music I'm going to try to make a movie around.

This is a really nice thread...It's great to see what other people are thinking.

Yeah, definitely a nice thread. Thanks Lucinda.
It's a bit reminiscent of the "real" film making world. You wonder where such and such has been and here he or she's been hard at work on pre-production or even production of their next project. That is unless it's well publicized. And I think the similarity will grow even more as projects here become more and more complex and longer.

Well,
I'm finishing production for Mac vs PC episode 2: "No script for you"

And I'm writing script for episodes 3 and 4...
...I'm devastated with what happened with iMovie 08, so I'm making ep. 3 about that.

Wow what a great response to this. I check in the forums quite a lot and I am always curious and want to keep the interest in Moviestorm going. This is such great software. My first experience with Antics is good but there are some things I do not care much for - the set building is kind of hard and there isn't as much shading and shadows. But then I haven't learned everything yet. The puppet animations are amazing. The physical movements are very graceful and quite varied. But all in all,, when I get back to working on a Moviestorm movie, I am again impressed at the quailty of this program - there is just so much depth and great lighting of the sets and the chracters faces have better expressions than the Antics characters.

The way I plan to combine the two programs is to do what I can't do yet in Moviestorm in Antics - for instance - animals, airplanes, moving cars and complex dance routines, crowd scenes, babies, children, etc. All my interior sets will be done with moviestorm as the quality and detail is much better. Also all my closeups and lip synch will be done with Moviestorm.

I have every confidence that when finished Moviestorm will be quite superior to Antics (which is a very expensive program). But Antics is useful to me and it wasn't a waste of money on my part.

to The Director - Hey, all artists think their work is bad - we are our own worst critics. If I kept improving the same movie over and over, I would never have made more than ONE MOVIE - so you do the best you can, get it out there and improve on the next movie.

With any luck, you won't be disappointed.

The major setback of this movie was waiting for voice actors. The script was finished months ago. And assuming that one guy hasn't canceled on me, I should finally get the voices soon, and I can start adapting it into Moviestorm already. Hopefully, if this becomes popular, I won't have many casting issues in the future.

I also finished building the sets awhile ago, too. I'm contemplating doing a set showcase movie, showing all of the sets except for the very last one, which would spoil the surprise. Do you think that would be a good idea? I already made & rendered the first set.

You might find this kind of amusing - the missing coffee was just a name I used for the very first time I used Moviestorm. I just made Detective Dedlie and made him walk around. I knew I wanted to make a Detective Dedlie movie, but I wasn't sure about what. Then I thought - why not use what was already there? And thus, I got the idea of Detective Dedlie in the Missing Coffee.

I also didn't want this to be like any of my, "The Movies" movies where it had an extremely shallow plot that I wrote on the go. So I sat down and started to write the script, and I kept on writing it just about every day for around 2-3 weeks. Overall, it's roughly 22 pages, according to Microsoft Word, which is what I wrote it in. I was surprised at how quickly ideas of what was going to happen next came to me, and of how fun it was. In a way, I can't wait to finish this one so I can write another.

Oh, and I think you'll be quite surprised at who stole the coffee.

[Edit]

Whoo, I just got email confirmation that the one guy hasn't canceled on me. Yay!

[Edit 2]

I just sent out the last of the scripts to the voice actors, so I should get all the lines soon!

Wow, CPT...

22 pages? This sounds "Cecil B. Demillish". Looking forward to your epic!

Thanks.

I'm wondering how long it would be? I'm guessing probably over 10 minutes... which rules out uploading it on Youtube. I suppose I could cut it into parts for the Youtube version.

Well it sounds great. Yes you ought to do a tour of the sets movie the way I have done. It doesn't spoil your movie at all to preshow the sets. 22 pages - well someone told me once that a script is a minute per page, but that isn't true as I found out from writing my one minute movie Happy Hour - when it is all dialogue, it is about 4 minutes a page.

I am thinking of making a small video to get more practice with MS. I must say that some video games have been sucking my free time a lot lately.

I've also been reading Machinima for Dummies and want to wait until I'm finished before I jump back into moviemaking. I hearthily recommend it to everyone. It is an excellent read with tons of useful tips and suggestions that will make my movies better (and your too probably ).

I still come by as often as I can to keep updated with the new stuff.

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

May the Muses inspire you today.
