I am thinking of making a small video to get more practice with MS. I must say that some video games have been sucking my free time a lot lately.
I've also been reading Machinima for Dummies and want to wait until I'm finished before I jump back into moviemaking. I hearthily recommend it to everyone. It is an excellent read with tons of useful tips and suggestions that will make my movies better (and your too probably ).
I still come by as often as I can to keep updated with the new stuff.
Well glad to see you are still around. Yes I do recommend reading that book. Video games - well they are very enticing but I find after a bit I get bored with even my favorite games and that is what led me to want to make movies. I get bored with a lot of movies I see too and that is also what led me to write my own stories and make movies..
As far as me, I did finish Happy Hour and I like this kind of writing so I think I am going to do more with these characters I created - you know even though I make fun of them, I really love this type of unenlightened (shall we say character). I don't know if any of you have watched Happy Hour or not - but let's say they are young urban professionals and are kind of clueless.

I making a music video or maybe just an ordinary film combining Moviestorm and The Sims 2. The bad part is the PC with The Sims 2 installed was scheduled to be formatted because of a Windows problem, so I have to wait until I set it up again and running.
This project was very interesting, one of the most unique projects I have thought about, since nobody ever cares about mixing The Sims 2 with Moviestorm yet. I got all my editors ready: Sony Vegas, Ulead Videostudio, Windows Movie Maker and Adobe Premier.
Chroma keying is very difficult to do these days.
Oh, and if some of you don't think I'm good enough at The Sims 2 machinima, check out my Youtube profile: http://www.youtube.com/Spong3y. I've been on a roll on machinima for over a year now, yet I can't do anything good enough.
Oh well, better concentrate on something else now. I have made several experiments with Moviestorm, like my new concept about producing music videos with Moviestorm and many more.

Oh I don't think it is true at all that people aren't interested in combining Sims 2 and Moviestorm. I love Sims 2 but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I will use that game and a lot of other programs to make movies when I get started on my story oriented movies. The only problem I have with using Sims 2 for movies is that it isn't easy to film but since I most likely will be using it for sets and backgrounds, tht might make it a bit easier.

...I've gotten a little behind with the Mac vs PC series.
But currently I'm doing a video with Halo 3.

Now that is just weird, almost everyone started machinima with The Sims 2, since it is very basic and very easy to use, as long as you know the game. Although The Sims 2 won't always let you win large machinima contests and impossible for film festivals. Do you know about 9 over 10 people in the world think The Sims 2 is a game for gays (It's true, a survey I made myself)? So machinima made with this game is not popular among machinima viewers, they want to see machinima made with popular games such as Halo, GTA, WoW, and many more.

I come from the world of Sims2 machinima and Sims2 Machinima is very big and very well shown in festivals, in fact a Sims2 Machinima won 1st place(Best Machinima in World) in the Bitfilm Film Festival 2005 and my Sims2 music video I made for a band in Ireland came 2nd in 2006. There are a lot of Machinma out there in Sims2 and watched by a lot people. So there is still a nice size market out there for Sims2 Machinima.
Anyways, I'm in the starting point of bringing over my screenplay I wrote a few years ago over to Moviestorm. I plan on probably having to use Antics3d 2.5 for small number of scenes to be combined with the Moviestorm scenes. I think, when done right the combination of engines can give a nice result. I've combined engines before and it's a lot of fun.

I just never got the time to mess with making movies with Sims 2 even though I played it a lot. I might get back to it at another time. I also have Antics and I like it a lot - Moviestorm is better though but it is useful for the animations, variety of puppets, vehicles, weapons, etc. And like with Moviestorm, what you make with it is yours to do with what you want.

Where I'm at, Ladies and Gents? At the very beginning, learning how to use MovieStorm as well as other software with Machinima for Dummies The whole feeling of being a newbie is rather... embarrassing, even if we are all like that at one point.

*blushes*
Don't feel you have to plough through the whole thing before you can start making any machinima. It's a hefty old tome, and nothing beats learning by doing! It's meant to be consumed in little bits and pieces rather than all at once. Think of it as a fine roast chicken. If you carve off a juicy slice every once in a while you'll soon have nothing but stock. If try to cram the entire bird down your gullet in one go, you'll just look silly and nobody will come round to your house for Sunday lunch in future.
That extended metaphor sounded much better in my head.

I've just started using Moviestorm, and I'm currently practicing/looking for inspiration by machinimating scenes from some of my favourite films. I've also started a short surrealist piece called Lucid, but I get the feeling it'll be a while before I'm happy with it.

Nice to hear from you. The title of your new film intrigues me. As far as being "happy with a movie" I used to think I was never happy with the ones I made and then there comes a time when you realize you have done everything you wanted to do with a certain film. I find working out all the technical aspects, especially SOUND is very important to me.

I know what you mean, i'm a musician and I often find myself working on the same piece of music for far too long, tweaking tiny little things here and there until it drives you insane. Sometimes you just have to step away for a while and come back with a fresh mind.
I don't really want to give anything away regarding Lucid, so I'll just say that the film is about dreams. Once i've put a coherent opening together I'll post up a rough cut to get some feedback, though i'm quite busy for a while so I don't know how long thats likely to be!

Oh dreams, you have me intrigued now. Can't wait to see it. I am also an artist - well I was an artist most of my life before I got into filmmaking and I used to be so critical of everything I did. Now when I look back on my work - unfortunately, I sold most of it and don't have photographs of a lot of the early work - anyway I look back and realize that it was good as it was, better than I thought at the time.
