The computer is crashing every time i try to use the video editor inside Moviestorm. Also, i can´t seem to play any video with teh new play video tool. What am i doing wrong? I tried wmv, avi and flv formats. Anybody had any sucess?
I've had some success with the vid play outside of a comment I left (http://www.moviestorm.co.uk/forum/posts/list/1350.page).
* It works with (I think only) AVI.
* You access it in the Director View by right clicking the object (simple poster, simple backdrop, picture, machine with screens), and the "play video" choice on the menu comes up. (the choice is made much like the image choices... except you are in Director View instead of the set builder)
* It starts playing where you instructed it to on the timeline...
(comment... but after the video gets done, I've had a little 5 seconds worth of "stutter" that the time line repeats itself rapidly. I'm the only one who has mentioned it, so I don't know if it just didn't like the file I used, or what.)
edit... after using an AVI file that Moviestorm produced, it worked fine (no stutter), so I suppose it was some setting with the (first AVI) file I used that the "play video" didn't like.
The only thing I might add is that the simple backdrop I used to play the video disappeared momentarily after the vid completed (then re-appeared).

I tried using an AVI file. Nothing straight from Moviestorm yet, though. Guess I could try that next.
Update:
I tried using a video straight from Moviestorm, and it acted all funny. It sort of worked, but it was more of a slideshow than video. I would see every 20th or so frame pop up every few seconds, but no video. Also, it cut out early, and the video didn't appear on the timeline until I clicked, "Play Video" again. For the record, I used the flat screen TV that came with Domestic Drama 01.

So far I have had no crashes, and! I used a scene from another movie in Moviestorm and it played really well on the TV set, I don't know if this will help but I tend to run my computer very lean no sound schemes, no wallpaper, no desktop icons and I have used various tweaks to free up resources and I make sure nothing else is running in the backgroud thats not necessary, its no guarantee but it might help

I made a small video with a successful test of the play video function... this time without using a video that MS made itself. The only thing I changed was the frames p/s: 25 (vs the usual 29 or 30 I usually do...).
I utilized the desk picture, expanded it, and placed it on the wall, instead of using one of the simple posters. (the frame on that picture is not so fancy that it makes a decent frame for a monitor... and it's landscape-shaped)

(Not a "new" upload... I replaced one of my Athena Project commercials.)

Nice one Fulkster, its good to see something that was bought up way back in beta 1 being implemented and as far as I can tell it works really well, so many things it can be used for, I'm excited.
I salute you Short Fuze team

About the scroll sound crashes: well spotted folks, seems very repeatable, clearly we have not been doing enough testing with the button sounds turned on.
Turning off the button sounds seems like an effective workaround for the moment - go to settings, sound, and untick 'Use Button Sounds'.

No wonder I haven't had these problems I've never had the button sounds switched on.

I still can´t place any video files using simple poster, simple backdrop or any other simple objects. Can´t understand why? Anyone has an idea of what could be my problem. Everyone using it without any problems?

The only thing I can think of is that you might be doing what I originally did: try to instruct the loading of the video where you do the (still) image (the set building mode)?
It is done in Director's View, at the point where you want it to start in the timeline... it has to be an AVI file... I've found 25 fps works best for me at this time... I'm still experimenting with the dimensions.
You execute the command just like you do with the "point at" or "look at"... it is (should be) just another selection now in that menu.
Hope this helps?
(edit... to start with, you might use a small (in time length) AVI file that Moviestorm creates.)
edit... and I'm losing confidence with the simple posters*... try using some of the things like the pictures (which you can change the images of) and the items with monitors (TV, computers).
*I'm able to use the simple posters and backdrops for video playback, but they disappear sometimes from view after playing the video.
