I don't know if this has been asked before (probably has), but 'The Movies' has a huge whole in it's available genres, and that is Fantasy and Medieval content:
Will Moviestorm have that content? Can I make a Wizard cast a spell, or have a knight ford a stream on his trusty horse? Can a dragon rescue the beautiful wizard from the clutches of the hideous princess???
(Now there's a winning movie!! )

...Obviously we need another genre! I say we call it "Biggstrek's Looking Glass"! ("BLG" for short.)
Greek Mythology too... and Biblical times. (There's certainly lots of room for the add-on packs.)

I'd also like to add that I have a couple of Star Wars fanfics that I have written that I would dearly LOVE to make movies out of.
Will that be possible? Please...? hehehe

I sometimes suspect that someone in our team has "accidentally" made some of the t-shirts and jackets in the latest artwork look suspiciously like Trekky "awayteam" uniforms.

Moviestorm can potentially allow you to make almost any kind of movie, and we're all intrigued to find out what you guys, our users, will want to do with it. So, what kind of movie would you most like to make? Are you interested in making short comedies in the vein of Python or Little Britain? Do you fancy yourself creating the next great MTV hit? Do you aspire to making full-length films, or perhaps creating an episodic series? Do you want to recreate Casablanca in machinima? Or perhaps you want to create a video blog and send it to your mates. Or perhaps (and this is what we're all dying to find out) you want to do something totally, completely, gobsmackingly new.
Cheers,
I'd most interested in having a wide berth of choices, but for me Noir would be my goal. Both modern and classic Noir.

I'm especially interested in making a drama series. I tried, and I still am trying, making a drama series with The Sims 2, but its very limited with what you can do, plus the Sims stress me out lol
I also love action movies and sci-fi movies. And I hope with Moviestorm I can continue the Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness trilogy that Core never got to finish (as they were fired). A lot of Tomb Raider: AOD fans have speculated on what would happen next, and I'd love to work with them to finish what Core started.

Could I have a fight on an airship and have one of the characters fall into the sea and have him sink down through an underwater kingdom complete with sharks and a Britney Spears Mermaid?
I'm not sure about the Britney Spears mermaid bit; the "limits of taste" bot might just kick in at that point. But as it happens, yes, I do want to have fights on airships - it's a particular sweet spot for me. I really fancy making a Sky Captain / Indiana Jones / LXG type adventure movie, and I gotta have airships for that! And underwater kingdom, yeah, why not? If we can do airships, we can do sharks.
Having said that, here are my two get-outs. Firstly, I'm not claiming we'll be able to do this with the initial release of Moviestorm. It'll take time to get all that in, and we've got a lot of features in the Moviestorm Master Plan. And secondly, you may have to be a bit creative with what you show and how. Some shots would require "real" 3D animation to get, and machinima just won't cut it; there are some fundamental limitations to what we can do with machinima. However, with some lateral thought, some custom assets, clever use of back-projection and/or blue-screen, plus cunning editing, you can make the viewer "see" things that aren't on the screen, and you can tell the story you want.

Would there be room for epic star-wars style battles?
Would I be able to bring in my own models from other applications?
Will the scenery with the program be editable, so I can change that poster in the background to something lacking so many arms?
Will I bee able to position the actors in every frame like the original Window 3D Movie Maker? Or will I be constricted to the version in The Movies?

- Epic battles - maybe, but not soon.
- Importing your own models & editing scenery, yes, although you may not be able to bring in models from other games (for technical reasons as well as copyright) - you can do that right now
- We don't have frame by frame animation, but we have a lot more flexibility than The Movies - you're the director, you tell the actors what to do, it's not just stitching ready-made scenes together.

Matt now that you mention it, how do we go about importing from other formats? When I go into the Moviestorm Mod Workshop and look at the Prop Template Editor it seems if I can put a mesh in I might be able to import props. Is the mesh a .cmf file? Is there any quick way to explain what to do? Or maybe a hint of how you guys do it?
Then maybe it would be best to wait for a proper converter to help the process.
Many thanks again

I hope there will be a category for drama. I always have to put my movies in the Romance genre when they aren't well - like romance novels - they are human dramas about people's relationships. And I am branching out into full stories with drama, love, action, mystery all wrapped up in one movie. Kind of like real life.
I write very long, complex scripts with a lot of intertwined characters so I expect to make full length feature films. As long as you have freecam and the ability to make the characters facial expressions and body language the way I want, I will be happy.
Ii also like dance a lot so I would love to be able to create some choreography. Good lighting effects, good sets and a variety of sets or the ability to customize my own sets is important to me. I have done a lot with this even with the Movies limited software already.
Crowd scenes - love to be able to have a large group of people animated - not just be limited to 10 or so characters in a scene.

we are confident that drama is going to be in from the start.
basic choreography is already surprisingly easy (you can create custom moves and string them together, then cut cameras to create a visual rhythm), and we will follow up in later versions with more advanced choreography support and tools to work with music more easily
crowds will probably be smaller to start with, and depend a lot on your hardware. there is some talk about "crowd generators", but its still a theory, not in the code
we've talked about lighting elsewhere, and it is a major area for us to work on.
anyway, mostly looking forward to watching one of your pieces!

I personally want to make a series, it's going to be a comdy-drama hybrid drawing influences from House and Scrubs.
I also wish to make documentaries on europian history(think Monarchy with Daivd Starkey(sp?))
aswell as book - movie adaptations (Draucla and Frankinstien are my main ideas right now)
and the ocasional music video.
