Wow...I'm surprised at how many familiar names I'm seeing here from 'movies' land...hello all

I'm very impressed with how moviestorm is developing actually.
2 or 3 months ago, I was sceptical...I mean, I know it's early days and everything is still in beta, but I wondered if all the claims made back then about regular expansion packs and such would hold true, especially after hearing those same promises made in the early days of 'the movies'...so far, so good

I have a full length movie project which I'm currently working on using 'the movies' (and featuring Lucinda's excellent VO talents incidently) but after this, I'm looking to make the big switch to moviestorm.

I think the potential here is absolutely huge and the possibilities endless...I too am drooling at the prospect of horror, western, war, action and sci-fi themes...and everything in between

I've been with TMO for almost three years now and I think the movies and the community are excellent, but being a tomorrow kind of guy, I'm hoping to hand over the crown to moviestorm one day soon.

Bezzer, OOOPS, do I owe you any voiceovers? Which movie is it? Well welcome to Moviestorm - with technology both with hardware and software making quantum leaps, everyone is going to be amazed with what we will be able to do in a year with our home PCs. And I too am a tomorrow kind of person and I am constantly searching for new graphics tools. Moviestorm is making the kind of strides that I always hoped for and so are a lot of other software developers. Luckily for us at Moviestorm, we can not only use these tools to make really cool movies, but we can incorporate props, sets, animations from a lot of other programs into Moviestorm. It is so flexible.

Glad to see you here and I am always happy to do voice-overs whenever you want.

Thanks for the welcome Fulkster and Lucinda

I have all your VOs Lucinda

The movie I'm working on is the full length version of A DARKER PLACE in which you voice the Elaine Black character...I know, I know...I've been working on it for absolutely ages now and I did have an autumn/fall release scheduled, but unfortunately, everyday life has been really hectic and I haven't had much freetime to work on it.

BUT work WILL continue and what I've put together so far, I'm really pleased with.

I'm determined to complete the movie (which has a running time of approx 90 minutes!) hopefully by february 2008...there's still a heck of a lot of work to do.

I'll drop you a line when the movie goes online

Apologies for going off topic everyone...we now return you to 'moviestorm vs the movies'

I remember that movie. I wondered why it had not come out. Oh yes I know what you mean by a lot of work that goes into making these movies. Let us know when it comes out.

On my perspective The Movies is wack. Look over it, it has poor graphics, animation and freedom. You won't sell stuff with it since it's probably made by a whacked up company. The Sims 2 is better than this. But overall Moviestorm wins.

BTW, there should be a poll Moviestorm vs. The Sims 2.

Kill a man, and you are an assassin. Kill a million men, and you are a conqueror. Kill everyone and you are a GOD.

Please, no more polls. With the upcoming presidential elections in this country, all i hear about is poll after poll. Besides, is it really necessary? The whole "Moviestorm vs The Movies" is rather silly anyway. "The Movies" served it's purpose and Moviestorm will serve a higher purpose. Just the fact that you can use your productions commercially with MS speaks volumes.

OK I'm writing this as a Movies lover. I'm still playing it now, and expect to do so for a long time.

But the important word in what I have just said is 'play'. The Movies was designed from the start as a game. Kudos to Lionhead for being brave enough to stick their heads out of the 'comfort zone' and do somthing different.

But what I don't think they expected was the draw to the machinima side of the game

The Movies and Moviestorm while related poducts are very different beast. Rather then seeing them as competition, I think they complement eachother well.

Games, like The Movies are needed. I hope it stays around for a long while, feeding in new people to this new art form, then with Moviestorm and similer programs taking up the batton when people want to look at something more serious.

You only have to look at the forums here to see how many folks came here by The Movies route. How many people who post here had no major interest in animation before the played The Movies, would not be here had it not piqued their interest and had them looking for something bigger and better?

There's at least one. Me!

The Movies is a great game, one of the best. But it is still just a game, and as a result has limits, not to mention limited product support from the developers, who have now moved onto other projects.

But that does not make it worse, or better then Moviestorm, but makes it different

Perfectly stated Wyke. They are very different products with different agendas. There is room for comparison but, yet, no comparison is truly possible. The products that Lucinda speaks of are actually more comparable as far as what their goals are.

The Movies is quite fun and the modders are doing more and more to make it more attractive and usable. I think eventually the Movies people will release the source code turn the program over to the fans and then wait and see what will happen. I do agree that comparing the Movies to something like Moviestorm is a bit unfair. It is like comparing the Movies to something like Antics 3D which is the program the industry uses for storyboarding and also uses game engine technology, but is extremely expensive.

And The Movies has a very strong fan base which is good. I just prefer Moviestorm and a lot of other hi res graphics programs to The Movies at his time and I want more freedom with animations.
