Moviestorm can potentially allow you to make almost any kind of movie, and we're all intrigued to find out what you guys, our users, will want to do with it. So, what kind of movie would you most like to make? Are you interested in making short comedies in the vein of Python or Little Britain? Do you fancy yourself creating the next great MTV hit? Do you aspire to making full-length films, or perhaps creating an episodic series? Do you want to recreate Casablanca in machinima? Or perhaps you want to create a video blog and send it to your mates. Or perhaps (and this is what we're all dying to find out) you want to do something totally, completely, gobsmackingly new. Cheers,

Hey Matt, I just found out about moviestorm two weeks ago, and I'm going out of my mind about it! I'm a traditionally trained filmmaker. I have an MFA from the New York University film program and that whole thing. Anyway, I have spent the last few years writing. To date, I now have nine feature length screenplays, and forty-two treatments (story ideas). I'm ready to go into production! The problem is that my stories are fairly epic in scope. I can't just pick up a HDV camcorder and start shooting scenes with my friends. I need moviestorm! Where is it? Oh moviestorm...you cock-tease. Is there any way I can be put on as a beta tester? I know it's a lot to ask, but I'm new to this site. If given a chance to beta test this software, I will make a kick-ass feature film with it. I want to use moviestorm so much...I have a diamond smasher in my pants. Kevin

I have scripts for a short comedy, but I am more into make a full length action movie. The only thing stopping me from doing these movies right now is that MovieStorm does not have all the characters that are needed for them. Also I am still learning the ins and outs of MovieStorm.

Hey Matt, I am just looking for maybe three or four more characters types to choose from. I need younger in their early 30's males and maybe another female. I also I would like to have maybe one or two be pre-teen age, but I can work around that if need be. The movie that I have in mind does have a large cast, but I am learning to use what I have and so far what I have is great. I know that you guys are working hard on this program and it shows. Keep up all the good(great) work. Thanks, cyber_faust69

Thanks, that's very useful input. We're not likely to have pre-teens any time soon, but adult characters of different ages are in the pipeline (young adult, middle-aged, oldie). And thanks for the praise - we thrive on it!

I work with 3DS Max and Poser. Will I be able to import textured models from those apps into Moviestorm? How about importing motion files (.bip, and cs) from Max's Character Studio?

I have never made a movie, or film, I've taken very few photographs. I'm a live performance technician by preference, sound engineer and some lighting. I have worked for over 3000 performances to date, almost always one night stands. I have no real coding experience. The film I want to make will feature: corn-circles; rabbits; an egg-whisk; time-travel; a (high speed) punt chase; an elite (covert) 'military' unit; simultaneous picnics; chimpanzees; bridge hopping; aliens (greys); Jennifer Aniston and Tori Amos. Working title is: "12 Herrings (red)" I have absolutely no idea of how to go about this. I understand the concept of 'learning-curve'. Do you still need beta-testers? and what would that entail? HELP! yours etcetera....... Fethahed.

My idea is to create a Series / serial for the older crowd. In a few months I turn 50 and I've noticed that most of the humor on YouTube and around the net is targeted at a much younger group. I'm sure that my own warped prospective on things and the world could amuse more than myself and the wife. You don't stop having a twisted sense of humor at 30, at least I didn't!

There are two uses I'd like to put Moviestorm to. The first is in creating the end product itself - short episodic works, mostly comedies. The second is to create selling tools for traditional works - proof of concept and animatics for television series and feature films. The biggest drawback to traditional media is the time and effort it takes to get anything done. It is brutally expensive so there won't be a time when it will be quick and easy by any definition. This frustrates me creatively since I want to create rather than spend 90% of my time setting things up so that I can create. The ability to create without the need for a huge supporting infrastructure would be liberating. I have several projects that would fit in here and could be done in a limited time and with no budget to speak of. But those big budget traditional media productions are worthwhile goals since they provide a polish and scope that can't be replicated by a single person... at least until we find a cure for old age. Thousands of man (and woman) hours go into those productions and it shows. If I can create something with Moviestorm that can help sell the idea that would be beyond great. So the goals are to create my personal works with the aim of putting them up on the web and potentially into cell phones (maybe getting a few $ there) while building the skill sets needed to create engaging animatics that will sell the big pictures... and it should also replace storyboarding once into preproduction. I am itching to get my hands on this program.

I am wanting to make a series of 13 11 minute eps for tv/cable distribution called ShadowChildren (www.bntfilms.com), a horror/drama. I have 3 eps made using a software called The Movies, a tycoon style game that has the abitity to make short machinima movies.
I would restart the series, and fix a few things that The Movies wasn't able to do, as well as move on to other projects like reanimating "Armageddon Blues" for showing at film festivals, and also "Running with the Wind". Both of these are based on stories I have published, the second I received word of acceptance just today.
After that series, there is "Circus Maximus" based on an unfinished novel that would make another good series of 13 11 minutes eps. Also a space/western/vampire film currently called "The Missionary" and a scifi thriller called "Memories in a Bottle".
So as you can see, I have a busy schedule.

What do you want to do that The Movies doesn't let you do?
For one, I could sell the series. I already lost a deal to redo it because the company involved didn't want to fund a series from scratch and with The Movies' liscence there can be no profit made from it.
There is also a scene in part 1 where Pachacoti is beheading Virgil. I got lucky in being able to get that done, but there bar was supposed to be full of vampires and Pachacoti was going an a 'killing spree'.
Another thing is that there is little relative control of the puppets there. IE there are scenes of a puppet walking from point A to point B, but I can't control where those points are.
Worst of all, those puppets are HAMS! On the occasions I do get a choice, I usually have to pick 'neutral' for their emotional response. Everything else makes them like they are doing a bad Jim Carrey impersonation.
If you've seen my movies don't let them fool you. I know they look good. I worked like a dog to get them that way. Look instead at movies.lionhead.com for other people's examples of The Movies.
