Nice to see you here Roger! Welcome to the club!
I'm sure you'll see that this program has a lot of cool stuff we wish was in TM.

For those of you who have used Moviestorm. Do you consider it better than The Movies?

(short answer for me? "Yes!")
Hi Roger,
Right now what we have is a beta program (which I guess you know?)... so there is work to be done still. My experience so far is very favorable.
I can honestly say that the potential here with Moviestorm is great... the staff is responsive, we've been promised regular "upgrade packs" (whatever they are going to be called... at reasonable prices), we are being encouraged (supported) to make our own mods, and we aren't being limited by the editing software that comes with the software (and what we make is our own (giving proper credit, of course))... (You know how TM makes you use their s/w to post on their site? Not with MS!)
For me, this is the program I was hoping for with The Movies before it released and everyone was "imagining" what it would be like... setting up your own scenes, building your own sets... (more) basic freedom in setting up the characters (walking/running from point a to point b, gesture at a certain point...). Everything I was imagining.
I bet you'll be impressed with what folks produce with Moviestorm months (even weeks) after it releases!

'Ello peeps. CJ from Pawfect Films here. We've made somewhere over 30 vids based on our PEDS show, mostly using the GTA engine, though we've done a short with the Antics 3D engine (just have to finish editing/music), so we're interested in branching out to other engines.
I've sent a couple of PM's and tried to post a message about it, but I guess I'm restricted from that? Anyway, I'd love to speak to the beta people about this, if someone could contact me.
Thanks.
BTW, we're at www.pawfectfilms.com for anyone whose interested.

Yeah, as far as student stuff, a bit, all on my site. Well, not ALL. I worked on a few machinimas and most recently am working on my first feature length, Saving the Day.

Heh.
Why thank you.
We are currently in pre-production for DINNER WITH ENEMIES 2: THE DINNERING.
We wanted to put it as an extra on the Saving the Day DVD, but that would be one hell of a copyright violation.
I'm thinking of doing it inbetween STD and my other new film project for next year.

Like Fulkster said, there are some things that need to be polished but I would say that MS is superior to TM.
The following features make it better in my opinion:
You can make your sets. It's pretty much the same thing as set dressing in TM. Placing walls is as simple as dragging your mouse.
Walking and gestures: YOU decide where your actors move and what gestures they make. You can adjust the "speed" of a gesture on a timeline and you can also make series of gestures. You simply select them from a menu.
Mods: There are mod tools included right in the program. Making posters to decorate your sets and creating backdrops is simply done by right clicking on the prop and selecting an image. There are also some simple shapes like cones, cubes, stairs, etc that you can easily texture yourself. You can even make your own animations!
The program might have a steeper learning curve (but not much) than TM but that comes from the fact that you have much more liberty and tons of options. As I wrote in another post, the movies we will see made with this program will be much more unique than TM as each creator will use his/her own series of gestures for their actors.

Let me guess Sam's response: "Moviestorm does not exist."
