I am going to make every movie I've ever dreamed of seeing. That is how I got involved in writing in the first place. I made up stories to entertain myself. I have so many ideas. I already saw one video that someone made that is on this site - a group of three men doing this great dance. I was just thrilled with the body movement and grace of the characters.

this reminds me of Lucien in the Sandman comics. Lucien is the librarian in the Library of Dream, which is the books that were never written but should have been. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_The_Sandman
I wonder if they had a DVD section?

That is a place I would love to visit. The Sandman is one of my favorite comics. I place it up there right beside Castle Waiting.

To be honest, its one thing that I do not control. A beta release comes out when our wonderful Head of QA says that it is good enough, which is after Matt, the CTO, and the Director of Art all say it is finished.
We've gone from a couple of guys in a bedroom to 14 people in a great little team in just 6 months, and we now have such luxuries as documented quality controls on releases. We have also gone from about 4 users to nearly 400 interested people, so we owe it to all of you to take serious care over releases.
I left them at about 16:30 UK time with it going into testing. If it passes, it comes out. If it fails, it won't (and there will be weeping).
So, bear with us. We love the enthusiasm, but we do not want to screw up by rushing anything, ever.
Oh, wait, Dave the CTO says "it is uploading to the server somewhere Germany now and will appear globally by technomagic about tomorrow lunch time". So, there. Now you know.

I'll be making a series such as my current one Mechanisms, because the shorter length is ideal for online viewing, and it'll give a viewer a reason to return to my site.
I hope to get in on the beta soon (hint, hint).

I'd like to make spoof type action movies and horror films. I don't usually make 'serious' films though.

Everything I write seems to fall under 'Sci Fi'.
I have plenty of half scripts written out with wierd and wonderful ideas that I've never really been able to make into realty. Fingers crossed, this program should allow me to create them.
'Donnie Darko' meets 'Tron' anybody?

I'm definitely a comedy sketch kind of guy.
I'm really looking forward to having the freedom to create all the sight gags/ physical comedy that I could never do with The Movies!

I've found that I'm strongest in the horror/thriller area. I'd love to bring that to this site. That'd be a lot of fun. The films I make and the scripts I write are all serious.

I chose Full Length drama / action / comedy.
I'm currently working on an Untitled scripts that I don't wanna explain because this isn't the right thread for that, but it would fall under that category (unless it wasnn't full length).
But that's the thing I love of Moviestorm. Full length baby! With TM you were restricted to 30 mintues or less because the game would basically explode if you went over that.

Hi:
First of all, I think you're doing a great job but, and MS is a nice tool, but I'm not sure if it wil be really useful for making movies Let's me explain (I hope I can do it, and sorry in advance for my English and also if this post is too long)
I am a script writer, so my approach/opinion to the making movies' software is as normal user, not and expert. Until now the contacts to this kind of software was 3D Studio, Blender and Flash for 2D. Of course 3DStudio and Blender are great, but they need a lot of effort and, as many people, I started to look for an alternative and I found it last year with the name of Machinima (late I know ). Just when I started to think seriously in Machinima it appears MS, great! My first contact was tying basic things, it rocks! But now I'm trying to do something real (just a couple of minutes with a real script) and I am totally frustrated. Probably some of the things are my fault, I don't know the tool too well, but others are from the approach. This IA engine is its strongness (it makes the filming process a lot easier and faster) but also its weakness an(why he is doing that? whay can't I change that?). Of course MS will become better and better and some of the problems will be solved, but certainly introducing more and more complexity.... and then we're in Blender again!! So, which is your approach on that? Are you sure MS can become in a real movie making tool for making more things that just get some fun?
Other things that worried me and I see has been posted in this forum by other people. Why Java? I love Java, I am a Java developer for more than 10 years, I know that it's more powerful in graphics than before but.... is this the right language for this kind of applications? We'll see.
MS's future. As I have said before I have almost no experience with 3D movie making tools but, thanks to this forum, I know now that there is a lot of software out of there (that's evident, but I just didn't know it): iClone, TM,.... and I see also that they have failed in a certain way. So, if I am going to take some money and a lot of my time in MS, how can I be sure this is a good investment? Sorry, but I'm doubting...
Finally, I'm not sure if these are my real thoughts or I'm just having a bad day
Thanks,
|

Isi,
Step back and take a deep breath. You have the right passion to make this work.
You as a writer should know that the craft of writing takes sometime to achieve the results you may want. Imagine writing all your life with a typewriter and now trying to sit down to a writing program instead of a machine made of keys and ribbon.. The tool can become overwhelming. I remember reading that Ray Bradbury still writes at a typewriter (I don?t know if the computer is overwhelming to him or not ? but remember this is a man that doesn?t drive a car ? in Los Angeles no less).
You say you are a Java developer. Well the only Java I can begin to understand today is a cup of coffee. That puts you miles beyond me in using Java. But Java is obviously important to my graphic problems ? so now I have to sit down and understand how it works and effects my work.
What I?m trying to say is give it time. Moviestorm is still growing, but even in this Beta stage it still works much better than a lot of other tools. I feel that this is the ?real? next generation of a Machinima tool.
