Hi mrjoice

Thanks for your comments, very useful, as always

I see that MS is certainly a nice tool but I am a little bit affraid to put a lot of effort in a tool that finally ends is nothing; I have lived this kind of situations several times with other tools. I don't know,... I am not 100% sure if this Machinima approach will allow us to make something more than just fun!

Don't take me too seriously!

Thanks

Well, I think you have the passion, so let's see where Moviestorm takes us.

I've wanted to make a fantasy full length feature. I've developed the story(15 years ago! ugh I'm old) but the opportunity was never available.

When I read about The Movies from Lionhead I thought it would be my chance. It was a great start but poorly supported and very restrictive.
Especially in a medieval or fantasy setting.

Upon reading Moviestorm's features and company support(hopefully longterm... ), I'm looking forward to beta testing this possibility.

It looks as though the designers have taken the right steps so far making it a movie-making based program. And I am anxious to see the power and potential this program may have.

I have always had an active imagination but lacking drawing or musical skills that left my outlet as just writing. And, to me anyway, it always lacked a punch.

Who knows this may be a step closer to being another way for people to express themselves as they want.

"I think i'll make a movie on how I feel...or perhaps a unique way to make a video blog?"

A Lionheader.

There is no "all of the above" option.

Primarily I am interested in making short promotional videos. I envisage mixing live action and animation, so good green screen / blue screen support will be all important to me.

I found The Movies useful in this regard, but it was limiting in a huge number of small ways (no curved camera paths, no depth of field, no scope for custom animation etc) which I am keen to see if MovieStorm addresses.

Had to go with "Full-length drama / action / comedy" choice.

Maybe a spy spoof or a mafia movie.

I want to create an animated stage play, a macheater piece, to coin a phrase . I'm working on an adaptation I've written of [i]Beat the Devil (1953,1954), which is in the Public Domain, and I've obtained permission for adapting and performing the work live on stage; so it's kind of a previz of the project.

So far, I've managed to find creative ways around the lack of assets, and I hope to continue along those lines. It's a challenge, but its been fun.

The plan is to work in short segments and piece it together.

This project is now basically complete with some additional dialog and other tweaks to come.

The link to the rough cut is:

I'd be interested in making many types of movies: first of all, full-lenght movies. I'd like to make a pair fantasy project I have in mind and some action/drama films in particular.

I 'd like to create an episodic series too, cause I think it's a great way to tell a story.
And I'm certainly going to use it for my music videos!

The fantasy projects surely are the most difficult project to create with MS at the moment, so I will probably wait for a better moment in the future.

I work in a real cinema enviroment too, soo I'm going to use MS to create 3D preview of scenes and to try different shots!!!

Andrea.

Moviestorm's real-time lip sync capabilities are one of the most awesome stuff embedded in Moviestorm. Not only that it gives you precise control, it gives you excellent lip sync that does not only follow the volume of the samples but the tones so it recognizes "ee", "o" and other sounds.

That's why Moviestorm is perfect for music videos with lyrics. It can make vocalists more realistic.

Isi,

Step back and take a deep breath. You have the right passion to make this work.

You as a writer should know that the craft of writing takes sometime to achieve the results you may want. Imagine writing all your life with a typewriter and now trying to sit down to a writing program instead of a machine made of keys and ribbon.. The tool can become overwhelming. I remember reading that Ray Bradbury still writes at a typewriter (I don?t know if the computer is overwhelming to him or not ? but remember this is a man that doesn?t drive a car ? in Los Angeles no less).

You say you are a Java developer. Well the only Java I can begin to understand today is a cup of coffee. That puts you miles beyond me in using Java. But Java is obviously important to my graphic problems ? so now I have to sit down and understand how it works and effects my work.

What I?m trying to say is give it time. Moviestorm is still growing, but even in this Beta stage it still works much better than a lot of other tools. I feel that this is the ?real? next generation of a Machinima tool.

I love what you said - about the typewriter. My stepfather, Ed Decker who was a writer and an artist (he is now deceased) would only use his very old royal portable typewriter. He wrote a lot of stories and some plays and I plan to produce them as movies as they have never been done. He hated computers, but now his plays will be on the internet for everyone to enjoy. Anyway this reminded me of him and makes me miss him.

As far as what you can do with Moviestorm at this stage, I feel I am getting wonderful results. It just takes a lot of learning. I am good at this - graphics software and computers in general so it is easy for me to do. I am always happy to teach someone else or even assist when I can.
