I do too. I've decided to wait until the way things work in the program are more finalized before I commit to it. My free time is very limited and I don't feel like spending it learning how the camera works more than once (well 1.5 times as I looked very quickly at it).

The amount of assets (props and actors) available doesn't worry me too much as those will explode very soon. My main issue is about learning how things work in the program and then having to relearn because they made major changes for the best.

Re:Anybody else downed tools until all the new stuff is released

Not me, much to the dismay of my husband and kids. I just plug right along with what we have. And because of the tools I have with my film editing programs and the special effects, there is so much I can do with Moviestorm. Also there is a lot that can be done with some of the animations that are still awkward i.e. good, clever editing, slowing the motion down in some shots like where they turn too suddenly or snap their heads too fast. And since I also just discovered that movies I upload to my own website play much faster than the ones I upload to other sites, I am quite pleased. For instance, from my own website a 50 mg wmv file will open in less than 5 minutes in your own Windows Media Player. It must be because I am the only person using the website and have lots of space there.

So guys, now that GONE is almost finished, should be available in HDV tonight (if my kids and husband behave and don't need my constant attention), you need to get going and make some more movies for ME to watch and enjoy.

Actually no, my wife's Multiply Sclerosis has been playing havoc with her so I've not been very inspired to do anything lately, hopefully things will improve so I can start using the shiny new things in the program.

Regards
David

P.S. The one idea I did have when I saw the new Aliens and their lack of push button controls was a short movie where the crew are on the bridge and the second in command tells the helmsman to take the ship out of space dock before the Captain arrives and after a few beats nothing happens and the XO asks why he hasn't done as he was ordered and the helmsman's says he can't seem to be able to push the console buttons and the XO and the rest of the crew all stand in front of the consoles and try to operate it.
Meanwhile the Captain enters the bridge and sees whats happening, sits down in his command chair and uses the finger touch controls on the chair and the ship starts to move, the crew notice they are now moving and congratulate each other for getting the ship going (even though none of them seem to recall actually doing anything)
The Captain just shakes his head, the camera switches to the engine room with the old control panels from the pioneer pack where you could actually push buttons etc and we see that its the engineer that is actually controlling the ship and not the bridge at all.

Very funny idea. I do hope your wife feels better soon. I know MS can be tough. I used to work for a neurologist.

This has pretty much been my chain of thought for a while...Though I haven't made a movie for Moviestorm yet, I've certainly been experimenting to death with the software.

First off, let me make it clear that I LOVE Moviestorm AND the amazing potential it offers...it's very easy to use, has excellent graphics and even at this early stage, a huge amount of content.

I know that with imagination, creativity and talent, you can pretty much make any kind of movie with what's already available here and some outside editing/fx/machinima-crossing, but let's face it, everybody likes new toys and new toys in the case of MS means new visuals, new tools, new inspiration, new members and of course, new movies!

To be honest, if I'm making a machinima movie, I would ideally like all my visual development needs to come from one source.

I've seen movies cross-made with Moviestorm, GTA and The movies for example and, great as some of them are, they all seem to lose their flow through using different sources...maybe this is the art of machinima, but it just doesn't click for me.

So, Crime pack?
Heck, yeah!

And add to my dream list...

Horror packs...not just the cheesy, comedic stuff like 'Dracula' and 'Frankenstein' either.
Costume packs...historical (from western to sword and sandal to victorian to retro and whatever in between), cultural, job related etc.
Transportation packs...Trains, plains, boats (which would also mean a 'water' pack), cars, military vehicles, buses, trucks, motorcycles etc. (modern and historical models).
Landmarks, Buildings and location Packs...London (modern and victorian), Ancient Egypt, New York, Ancient Greece, European, wild west, Asia etc.
Fantasy packs, weapons packs, animal packs, industrial packs, documentary packs.
Historical, future and antique furniture packs.
Advanced create-a-costume, Advanced create-an-actor...

My apologies...I'll stop now, because I know these lists have been done to death...but you get where I'm coming from

The above is not a request list to MS...just food for thought.
I think everybody here has a 'dream' list, but I do think that my list (along with everything that is currently available on MS) would pretty much cover all the basics for making any type of movie imaginable with this software and some day I would love to see something like this happen, though I fully appreciate it would probably take years of development.

I won't down tools, so to speak and the release of the crime pack will certainly open a few more doors for me, but I'm kind of hoping that Moviestorm eventually becomes the 'any movie you can dream of' creation software that I'm so craving.

Sorry for my long winded rant...I haven't posted here for quite a while.

content pipe will flow through the summer and on to Xmas and you can expect new content

modshop is now in scheduling and will align with all the new features in 1.1 (and much more) so you will soon be able to make your own content and (if you want to) content packs

website and commercial changes are on the way, as are some big new commercial news items through the rest of this year and into 2009.

After all your hard work, you certainly all deserve a party! :D

I know I have been rather lax in my testing. The 4th Edition of D&D has been occupying a lot of my time lately and ever since I switched jobs at the university, time flies by at an incredibly fast pace.

With the release of 1.1, I will now start to look at the program some more and look at creating all the movies that are waiting in my head.

Well I haven't 'downed tools' since I only FOUND tools umm ... 2 weeks ago or thereabouts (hehe) ? :)

Messing about with Modshop ATM (building a 'better' zombie) as well as trying to keep up with all the updates to MS Core in the last few days.

On the movie front I've been working on an MS short for WORK of all things. I work at an online media sales house, and a TVC that's been getting airplay in Australia at the moment for ANOTHER advertising company has given me ideas. So I'm basically putting together a piss-take of their ad plugging OUR service instead, and once it's finished I'm going to show it to the boss. Who knows - if he likes it enough, we might send out 'viral' :)
