Every couple months The Storm Hour will be hosting a Moviestorm movie contest. The contests are open to anyone using Moviestorm, excluding the judges and The Storm Hour hosts. Each contest will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners who will then be automatically entered into the Grand Prize round, which will be voted on by the community in December.

In honor of 2012 the first contest will be an End of the World scenario contest. How do you think the world will end? Zombies? Comet? Aliens? WWIII? A Giant Pie?

Contest Structure: The submission period of the contest begins today, April 6th 2012 at noon Pacific time and ends June 30th 2012 at midnight Pacific time. The judging will be conducted July 1st 2012 through July 6th 2012 and the winners will be announced first on The Storm Hour July 7th 2012 then posted here.

How to Enter: Upload your movie to Moviestorm, Vimeo, or YouTube, enable embedding, and post the link in a reply to this forum post.

Judging: Judging will be based on originality, creativity, and compliance with the Submission Guidelines.

Submission Guidelines:

1. Movies can be uploaded to the Moviestorm site, Vimeo, or YouTube. Make sure you allow for embedding so they can be added to the official Storm Hour site. (I'm working on the site now and it should be up and ready by next week)

2. If a submission is not in English it should have subtitles.

3. At least 80% of the movie must be filmed using Moviestorm. Of course we don't have a program reading tape measure (or some such thing) so what this comes down to is most of the movie must be filmed with Moviestorm.

4. Credit all sources, including, but not limited to - modders, music, and artwork.

Prizes:

1st Place - The winner will receive a set of custom 1970's style sci fi ships and props complements of Alonzo aka Shawn Gee, 5 custom static props of your choice, and a $20 gift certificate to Mods 'N More.

2nd Place - 3 custom static props of your choice and a $15 gift certificate to Mods 'N More.

3rd Place - 2 custom static props of your choice and $10 gift certificate to Mods 'N More.

I'm trying to come up with an idea for this. I've had a few but it would be too difficult to do them.

Sango: "If it was really a miracle everyone would have been saved."

Vargas: "But if everyone was saved how would anyone know it was a miracle."

Sango and Vargas arguing over the implications of one person surviving an unexpectedly active tidal season.

What parts would be too difficult?

In one Everyone starts hording canned goods, piling them up in their homes until they are floor to ceiling with very little walking space and a very mild series of earthquakes brings them all down crushing everyone. smile.gif

I do have one that may be do-able dealing with an alien and the American system of Justice.

But floor to ceiling canned goods crashing down and crushing everyone would bog MS down to much. wink.gif

It would be easier if I could have a newspaper headline providing an explanation but no-one to write or print it.

Oh...Even better...nope...keeping this one to myself. You'll have to catch the movie.smile.gif

I have a sweet idea dealing with comets I'm going to give a try. It will be my second Moviestorm movie the first one as part of the 48 Machinima a couple weekends ago. It is called Hot Swap if you want to check it out and give me any feedback.

Now to go end the world!

Oh who is doing the twitter for TheStormHour bc they need to get on it! :-)

End of the World, and a new beginning for a better one.

Sorry but uploading this on the Moviestorm website aborted 4 times, so I have to use my YouTube and Vimeo links.

Great stuff. But the recommended viewing at the left is a bit odd wink.gif
