We have noticed that some machines are experiencing problems when starting Moviestorm in fullscreen mode after upgrading to 1.1.7.
While we have found a coding solution to this problem which will be available with the patch release, I thought it might be useful to post a quick fix until that becomes available.

On a windows XP PC, navigate to:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Moviestorm
Or on Vista:
C:\Users\Username\Moviestorm

On the file "machinimascope.properties" right click and open with a text editor such as Notepad.

Once the file is opened, search for the line that says "fullscreen=true" and change the "true" value to "false"
Save the file.

Now your Moviestorm will start up in "windowed mode" which will prevent the problem occuring.

I just went into the settings and selected "run in a window", restarted MS and then resized the window and it works great now. I'm now loving this new version. The old movies are harder to work on but the new ones run really quick and i've had no issues with the actions. If you're editing scenes made in the old moviestorm it can be a bit of a female dog though. smile.gif

I posted this in another thread but it was 4-5am and I confused the issue somewhat.

Yes, full-screen mode is giving me the flashies. However, in "windowed mode", 4 out of 5 times MS begins to open a window, the frame appears, and then just crashes.

Possibly related, I haven't upgraded my ATI drivers in a very, very, long time. Do we have an official word on what the latest working ATI drivers might be?

Thanks for the solution. Great job to the team as always. I guess this fix would do for now.

I'm hoping that these issues are no longer causing the same problems since the launch of 1.1.7.1. I don't know exactly how the dev team fixed it (apparently, there was a widget loose in the overhead spigot?) dry.gif . I will enquire about the ATi driver set, but upgrading to the latest is usually a good move.

Well, for a very long time, with MS, upgrading to the latest ATI drivers was the very worst thing you could do. I haven't done so since the last time one was deemed safe. It's paranoia.
