Hello there^^,

Introducing today the Moviestorm french speaking community ! Oh we are here for a while (since the begining of the story, we can say), but have waited to grow a little to reveal everything . The aim of this topic is informative, maybe there are others french speaking (even "juste un petit peu" ) people around and it will be VERY nice to know them and let them know that extended possibilities of communication exist. French speaking aeras are various : Belgium, Swiss, Luxembourg, Ontario/Quebec, North and West Africa, and so and so, well and even France !

So the good news is that we are organised on a specific site called The Movies FR.

Erm wait, "The Movies FR" ?, not "Moviestorm FR" ?, are you sure ?^^ Yes, we all are making movies, aren't we^^ ? (today we also say machinimas). Mmh, the truly truth is that we have started five years ago with the software the Movies, and most of our members are still in love with it, yes they do these inconscious^^, but since august 2008 we also are dealing with the prodigal son Moviestorm. So we have directors using Moviestorm, directors using The Movies and directors that have 2 arms^^, meaning just loving both .

3000 members in 5 years, 750 films posted, dozens of animations and shows organized, etc., well I guess we are no more beginners^^. In our staff, 3 specific persons are dealing with Moviestorm questions and site projects, that's Walvince, Cinecitta75 and course myself, Alutt. So we are all three able to talk officially in our name here or on the MS Facebook page.

What in particular will you find in the french speaking community ?
- first, you can find and show french speaking movies with the greatest chance to communicate with other directors and spectators in this language

- we are proposing regular and various animations, games, contests on The Movies and Moviestorm
- mmmmh I suppose I forgot some other great things ^^

We will use this topic to give you from time to time some specific informations or news, but also to exchange with everyone, french speaking or none french speaking people, we all are the same family and it's important to believe in a multi cultural world, it makes us so much more rich of everything . From time to time (not so often, don't worry^^), we will give you general news or infos, sometimes more for french speaking Moviestormer, sometimes more open to anyone... (hey pstt, we highly suggest to everybody not to miss the TMFR NEWS 02 coming on next monday... ).

TMFR NEWS 01

1/ So, explaining more today about one of our permanent animation : bimestrial festivals and bounded P20 annual celebration .


Every two months we organize a machinima festival wich is especially dedicated to french speaking Moviestorm or The Movies directors (well other animations are more open to everybody, this one is just a specificity of our site, existing since more than 4 years) with voice over acting or subtittles in french. Our 6 members jury nominate 2 films for every of the ten category (9 in fact, the last one is the public selection, by members' votes) including best scenary and costumes, best editing, best dialogues, best script, best created role, best voice acting, best movie and so. In a second time we make a great video show with guests talking 'bout the movies and directors and revealing the winners of the current festival . Well competition is only for fame. At the end of the year, we also make a great celebration called the Palmarès des Vingt (meaning palms for the twentyth best directors of the year), eating frogs and champagne, mmh joking^^, to salute all the directors who had at least one nomination during one of the 6 festivals of the past year. It consists on resume all the movies of these directors, convoke the Great jury (about 15-20 special members) to the election and then reveal the final Palmarès in several video shows with the winners countown, lots of guests are invited in, we make games around films, fabulous jokes, eat frogs and champagne - oops still not, joking again^^ -. And this time there are plenty of gifts ! (exclusive props for The Movies, facilities for promoting films on the site, DVDs, books and and and even a serious contribution from our lovely partner Moviestorm with MSP, damn this is worthly ! For 2009 results (you can see the shows - in french only, sorryyy - on our Vimeo page : http://www.vimeo.com/themoviesfr ), the number one director was Laviv 42, a very good director mostly interested in The Movies... for the moment ! Majority of the 2009 selection was more likely active on The Movies, but some are using Moviestorm too and some were only also using Moviestorm. We thank a lot again at this occasion the partnership with Moviestorm on this animation, wich offered 8000 MSP to the three top winners and 2500 MSP to the seven next, that was very appreciated by everyone .

So, we are already on the starting blocks to 2010, course, french speaking directors, what are you waiting for to participate ? In fact this is not really or only competition for competition, most a great pleasure to exchange with each others.


2/ An annoucement : we are cruelly missing for modders these times..., especially on Moviestorm software (no one yet ), so if you're french speaker and interested in the job of making some baguette, beret, tour Eiffel, grenouilles or champagne props for our members, just come and let us know.

STARS & STORM

Surprise ! Here comes a big Moviestorm films contest ! Directors from every nationality can integrate this long time contest, (during 6 months !) until the very last week of the registration period. Why so long ? Well to give the occasion to a very large directors to be part of it ! The Moviestorm website will be our partner on this, offering huge MSP prizes, you lucky guys ! What is specific here is that your movies must be at least part on french (voices or subtittles, but can also be with no dialogues at all), please do'nt use automatic translators, try better to get some help on your translations.


REGULATION RULES


1. Take part in the contest

1.1. General conditions :
- opening and closing to enter in the competition : from March 8th to August 31st 2010 (6 months duration)
- films accepted : every machinima directed mostly with Moviestorm
- free subject or theme
- machinima duration must be more than 3 minutes (no maximum)
- it must be a new machinima not diffused on the internet before March 1st 2010
- language must be in french, at least for audio voices OR subtittles, with a correct level of french required (so avoid automatic translators !) or can be mute without dialogues too : so, directors from any nationality can participate !
- each director can enter in the competition with only one unique machinima
- all voices, musics and sounds must be free of rights for legal facilities (including a wider possibility of diffusion for winners)
- members of this contest's jury cannot enter the competition

1.2. Pre-registration allocation (facultative) :
- every director declaring by advance beetween March 15th and July 15th on the specific dedicated topic on the Movies FR that he will participate, will precise what he prefers beetween the two following allocation : 500 MSPoints (immediately available after accreditation in the Marketplace on MS website) or a score bonus of 25 points.
- So it's stategic, choose well ! The 500 MSP is more a little help for beginners wich needs a little more material to make their film. The jury will hear and consider the declared preference of the director but has all latitude (with no possible recourse) to attribute the score bonus insteed of the MSP (especially if serious doubts on the director real implication intention, we also have a restricted budjet for this^^).
- it can work only once for each director/person, trichery attempt or false declaration will definitively eliminate the director/person of the competition (and also every other ones on the website).
- to be considered as valid, a pre-registration must include in the dedicated topic : a brief presentation of the director, a little presentation of intention with the machinima project briefly evoked , two work in progress open photos must also be joined (max 700 pixels large).
- note that this pre-registration allocation is all facultative and films can be directly presented too
- another advantage of the pre-registration is that it will start the film promotion (the journalists and opinion polls will continue this...) and well it's better to gain popularity because at the end public votes will contribute to your film' score !


2. Win the contest

2.1. Jury's members (5 persons) :
- 3 personnalities of the machinima's french-speaking sphere (list not fixed yet)
- Alutt and Walvince from the website The Movies FR' staff

2.2. September 6th : official 8 films selection announcement (so the 8 Jury's favorite movies after a secret deliberation)

2.3. Scores (max 825 points)
- The score bonus pre-registration option can bring 25 points automatic bonus
- Every jury's member (JM) will give a mark at every film, until 50 points for the quality of direction and until 50 points for quality of script (max 100 by film by JM, so with 5 JM, max of 500 points by film)
- Word Bonus and Prop Bonus are added (max 2x50=100 points by film) [see below]
- Spectators double bonus is added (max 2x100 points) [see below]
- At the end, we wil have a classification from the higher to the lower score : max 25+500+100+200=825 points by film

2.4.Challenges and challenges bonus points
- every director can automatically win challenge bonus points, at the following conditions and only if stipulating preciselly what he's done and where in the movie :
- "Word Bonus" : here is a list of 5 french words, every word used efficientely (audio or written, must be well integrated n audible) in the film will bring 10 points to the director : étoiles (stars), tempête (storm), banc (bench), Paris (the french capital), forêt (forest)

- "Prop Bonus" : here is a list of 5 Moviestorm regular prop, every prop used efficientely (must be well integrated n appropriate) in the film will bring 10 points to the director


1. Un banc public avec un téléphone mobile dessus (street bench with mobile phone on it)


2. Un rideau jaune-vert (yellow-green curtain)


3. Trois mugs à café tous de couleurs différentes (3 different colors coffee mugs)


4. Exactement le même tapis (exactly the same rug)


5. Une voiture de luxe Sedan noire avec une conductrice blonde (a luxuary black Sedan with blond woman driver)


2.5. Public vote and Spectators double bonus
After September 6th, two public votes will run simultaneously (best quality of direction / best quality of script) on The Movies FR and can bring until 100 bonus points each to films, depending on percentages of votes. Every member of The Movies FR can vote and only once. For instance : the film "Paris en France" gains 12% votes for Best direction and 16% for Best script, it brings 12+16 = 28 bonus points to the global score.


3. The winners prizes ! (partnership with Moviestorm)

Winner : 10,000 MS points
2nd place : 6,000 MS points
3rd, 4th & 5th place : 2,500 MS points each
6th, 7th & 8th place : 1500 MS points each

Note : Moviestorm points will give you access to additionnal official material for free or at reduce cost in the MS Marketplace.


4. Calendar of the contest

- March 8th : official launching and opening of enterings
- August 31st : official ending of enterings
- September 6th : official 8 films selection announcement
- beetween September 6th n 19th : public's two votes
- beetween September 27th n 30th : results announcement in a video show

Yes, and as an alternatiive you also have 6 months to find a new french girlfriend or wife .

Just to be sure to be understood : you can enter competition with any audio languages (even russian, spanish, erm... alien dialect ), but if so you must also subtittled your movie in french too.

Maybe a good occasion to meet new people to help, on the internet or on real life, why not, like on university french Institutes for instance. If you're really kind^^ you may even find some help on the Moviestorm french-speaking community, to check your translations for instance (I don't know, some people coud be interested to give you some english translation checking in return too - or not), the movie Clockwork was for instance recently translated in french by one of our member.

So, more than a contest, it's also the opportunity to test something new, to challenge something new and why not to meet new persons (and gain a new public for your movies !).

You're welcome. True that you can only choose the English language option AFTER having started to create the account and it becomes effective after the validation. So here is a litte tutorial to register on the website THE MOVIES.FR :

1/ At the top of the page, click on "S'enregistrer" [meaning to register]
2/ On the register window, choose the first option "J'accepte le règlement et j'ai exactement ou plus de 13 ans" [I accept the website regulation and I'm over twelve]
3/ Then you access to a 3 sections window, with Enregistrement [Registration], Profil [Profile] and Préférences [Preferences]
4/ On the third one - Préférences -, select the English option on " the Langue du Forum" lign [forum language], no need to change everything else here for now, neither on the whole second one section - Profil.
5/ On the first one - Enregistrement -, enter your aka on "Nom de scene", your e-mail adresse on "Adresse e-mail", enter a password on the "Mot de passe pour votre loge" lign then repeat it on the lign below, forget the last lign but before it there is the anti-spam question in french (changed from time to time) and you have to choose one of the 4 proposed words to answer the question (can't give answer here, if you really don't undestand help yoursel with a translator or a friend or even send me a pm here on MS website).

Hi guys, here are some news, especially on our current contest.


1) ABOUT THE STARS & STORM CONTEST

So far we have our first pre-registred movie, it's the Darkmoal's project called Alliance, a thriller.

As special pre-registration bonus, Darkmoal has chosen the 500 MSP allocation, offered by Moviestorm on our recommendation. Hope this will help a little bit . Good luck for the contest, Darkmoal.


Several others directors have plans to join the contest as far as we know..., but hey this contest must definitevely have at least 8 competitors to be interesting.

And you ?, what are you waiting for to take up the challenge ?! Come on, a mute film or a french subtittled film is not so hard to develop (lots of none english-speaking people try^^ all the time to propose english subtittled movies on the net !)

Hello again, some news about our current contest, Stars and Storm. We now have 2 others pre-registred directors entered in the competition. They both strategically choose the final score 25 points bonus instead of the MSP credit, so they clearly want to win^^ ! But we are still waiting for more enterings here, where are you people ? , especially from none french-speaking countries (like the 3 first ones) this would be definitively very nice and fun ! This is possible till August 31rd 2010 (July 15th for the facultative granted pre-registration, it's not compulsory).

Remember there will be rewards for the 8 better movies !, this is :

Winner : 10,000 MS points
2nd place : 6,000 MS points
3rd, 4th & 5th place : 2,500 MS points each
6th, 7th & 8th place : 1500 MS points each

Hi everybody, time to sit now and have a look at the situation on our running contest .

For now we have three declared pre-registred directors that have announced their projects and intentions to be part of the Stars & Storm competition.

We heard about several english-speaking directors that could participate...., and maybe some others including from the french-speaking aeras will still join ? Hope so ! Guys, there is no more lots of time to have the benefit of a pre-registration allocation, the last date is on July 15th ! (less than a month).

Then, of course, you still have a little time to enter your film in the competition (even if not pre-registred, it's optionnal) as August 31st will be the official ending of enterings.

Counting on your participation, we'll be happy to have an interesting and large panel of movies .

Still about our Stars & Storm contest, 2 news :

1/ It remains exactly 15 days to have the benefit of the pre-registration on our great contest ! After the 15th July, you still will be able to enter the competition (untill 31rd August, 2 months from here), but will no longer recieve the 500 MSP or the 25 pts score bonus (choice is yours) for the presentation of your project. So hurry, for your own good or best chances !


2/ We are pleased to announce that we have a fourth movie project pre-registred : L'intrus will be a film from Luxaeternam, a what it seems very interesting drama.....

1) Pre-registration period is now over !

EVERYONE - meaning people who are pre-registred or anyone else (pre-registration was facultative) - can enter the competition untill 31rd August 2010, by just posting a film on the Films libres (Movies) forum and after that make the appropriate declaration of participation to this contest on the Stars&Storm - Inscriptions (enter the contest) -Fr/Eng forum (see the Post-it : Stars&Storm - Règlement (regulation) -français/english for complete details).

Albert, a young alsacian, discovers something unexpected and is torn beetween two opposing feelings. Then comes a german officer, looking after him...)

Synopsis : Mon histoire traite de la vie d'une veuve et son fils unique. Ils ont vécu jusqu'à présent sans aucun soutien exterieur, car tout le monde croit que la vieille femme a tué son mari. Malgré de grandes privations, le garçon s'occupe bien de sa mère et il veut aller au lycée pour pouvoir réaliser le rêve de sa mère d'être patronne d'un café-resto. Il s'arrange avec un gang du quartier pour sacrificier son âme aux mains des assassins, afin de faire sourire à jamais sa mère. (Story about a widow and her unique son. Until now they lived without external support because everybody believes the old woman murdered her husband. Besides a lot of privations, the boy takes care well of his mother and want to go to high school to make her dream of opening a café comes true. But the boy will commit some mistakes dealing with the neighbourood gang...)

Synopsis : Depuis la guerre en Irak, les troupes des États-Unis envoyées en Irak sont plus nombreuses que les troupes de toute autre nation. Le nombre de victimes des forces armées américaines est supérieur à tout autre pays. Ce film est dédié aux hommes et aux femmes des forces armées américaines qui servent à la patrie aussi bien qu’à l'étranger. Parfois, on est trop occupé à reconnaître et à saluer les héros et héroïnes des forces armées américaines. Le script du film est fictif, mais j’essaie de dépeindre une réalité. (Fictive story, reality inspiration. Since Irak war, american troops are the larger in Irak. So are the military victims... A movie dedicated to people giving their life to defend their country and valors.)
