Really nice work, Jamoram.
I remember the joy the first time I managed to get a menu-driven prop to work
Thank you, John.
You bet. When at last you manage the pop-up menu to show up and the commands do what is expected, it's such a thrill.
In the meantime I've been improving the model, fixing some issues and adding the rest of the animations.
A new demo can be watched at https://drive.google...UmZVS0MzeVplYms
So next thing in the to-do list is recording the foley sounds and inserting the audio events for every animation.
EDIT: Oops, I've just realised the reels are rotating the wrong direction! I've created some sort of a Satan's contraption.
EDIT #2: Fixed.

Another variation on the same theme:

The visual and feel of the prop need further polishing. In my experience is the hardest part when importing from Milkshape3D, though I'm not sure whether importing before from Fragmotion has anything to do.

What I want to know is, does the tape self-destruct in 5 secs?
It's in my to-do list No, serious now. This sort of boombox is a friendly comission from a fellow of us who needs it to get a movie of hers done.
Anyway I've been wondering whether you can make appear or disappear part of a prop (ie, the tape itself) as an animation. In this case, the only solution I can think of is assigning every vertex of the tape to a new bone to hide it inside the body of the gadget.
It was Chrome problem, it shows in IE Ok.
It happened something like that to me: for some reason some browsers fail sometimes to retrieve and play a webm movie directly from Google Drive.

Said and done. Please check the updated demo movie.

Very cool! I'll bet you have the speed of rotation of the spindles calculated correctly depending on how much tape is left on each spool as well

So finally here you are the link for the real stuff:
https://drive.google...TFAyVmpQZHZ5VlE (*)
It's an addon (jm_AnimatedProps1) including both the tape recorder and the boombox, now with foley included.
Again, these are de demo clips for:
- the tape recorder: https://drive.google...UmZVS0MzeVplYms
- and the boombox (radiocassette): https://drive.google...eFhIaTlGZW5qbzQ
Any suggestion or comment leading to its improvement will be greatly appreciated.
As I said in a previous post, I'm planning to add many more animated props I've missed now and then while producing my own movies. I'll keep you informed.
(*) NOTE: as of 2017/01/25 all my publicly shared contents will be available from the folder at https://drive.google...aTNsSFBuN0sxZHM

Last version: 3 (2016-10-15):
- Animation variants with and without foley now available, in case you want to add your own sound effects.
- Credit given in the description to the real artists, the original authors of the models used.
