I'm currently learning the very basics of modding and as an exercise I've created some simple gestures, including some salutes that can be of some use. They appear in the Gestures menu -> 'JM Salutes'. In its current state, they are only available for male characters:

- Military01 salute

- Fascist salute

- Marxist salute

- Vulcan salute

- Terran Imperial salute (mirror universe)

There are also two postures I needed for the movie I'm working on:

- Male foetal position

- Female in bed

For an up-to-date version of both the addon and the demo movie, please refer to the post below.

If you want to tell jokes then use Muvizu; if you want to make 'Movies', use iClone; but if you want to tell stories, use Moviestorm - PrimaveraNZ

You're welcome, John. Think I was a bit too fast publishing, since it's quite immature and incomplete yet and require some polishing.

BTW, an up-to-date version of the addon will be available indefinitely at:  https://drive.google...bVpidWxHRHdwS2M (*)

And the test movie demoing it can be retrieved from: https://drive.google...bG1STjI5X1ExN00

In its current state, all the salute gestures and the foetal position posture have been made available for female characters, so gals can now get their share of the fun.

What software are you using for the animation?

Nahton introduced us all to Fragmotion (which has a free version) and he had a fair bit of success with it. I always struggled with Milkshape's idiosyncracies on the animation front.

Nahton introduced us all to Fragmotion (which has a free version) and he had a fair bit of success with it. I always struggled with Milkshape's idiosyncracies on the animation front.

My first choice is Milkshape3d; I do really hate the issues you know too well (unusual axis arrangement, skin folding in the most unsuspected ways, bones rotating around the wrong axis, and so on), but it's good enough and comes in handy for basic animation, and I like its keyframing tools.

I've been using also a very old 3ds Max 2008 I bought years ago when I was mad about flight simulation and virtual cabin modelling (those were far better days from a budgetary point of view!), though has got some very annoying graphics glitches on my current computer, so it's a PITA to get some work done, needing to restart now and then.

So now I'm giving a try to Fragmotion, which seems to have potential, though at first sight I think it's somehow less intuitive than Milkshape. If it's worth the $50 the developer asks for, I think it may be an affordable option to take into account.

Well, I've tried FragMotion as stated in a previous post. And I'm very impressed. It's such a terrific program, once you have just learned the basics. I watched the tutorial video by Nahton and browsed the help and got quickly hooked on it. It works seamlessly and like a charm side-by-side with MilkShape3d, so the pipeline is pretty straightforward. No need to say that I have purchased a license from the developer. It's indeed worth the $50.

So these animations have beed added to the last version of the mod:

1) Postures:

  - Foetal position can now revert to idle position

  - Clicking the heel or boot snapping: military salute, for both male and female puppets. Sound effect (foley) included. Can be used as it or combined with other gestures (in the demo movie appears combined with the Fascist salute).

2) Gestures:

 - Blessing (sign of the cross), available only for Catholic priests

Great stuff by the way! I see a whole new world opening up now we have another person making gestures. Reacher and Nahton made quite a few in their time but they aren't around much these days.

If you get the chance some time, a tutorial on the workflow you use with FragMo would be really useful.
And it just occurred to me, looking at your addon...is there a movie about the Spanish Civil War in the pipeline? I could do you a nice T-26 tank ;)

:) "Weapon of black mass destruction"... You piqued my curiosity. Funny wordplay. In a sense you're dead right about its potential, so strict export restrictions should apply.

BTW, I'm not fully satisfied with the animations thus far, so I'll try to polish them a bit. Also, I'll take more care of the padre; he  deserves it since it's the main character in the production I'm currently working on.

Alas, those were the days! Too often I think I've been late to the party.

I'm taking lots of notes about the different procedures with both Milkshape and FragMotion, and about the innards of Moviestorm modding, you know: hierarchy of folders, files involved, naming conventions: description of states, transitions and verbs, you name it. Some day, the sooner the better, I'll try to bring some order out of chaos, and I'll gladly share whatever results.

Not at this moment. Though SCW is a topic I'm very fond of, we Spaniards have been exposed to such a number of movies about the SCW over the last years, I think I'll kill whoever makes the next one.

Just to let you know the last version of the addon (as of 2017/01/17) includes now the posture 'sitting with legs crossed', available from the posture 'sitting in chair'. Please refer to the announcement in an other thread: http://www.moviestor...407#entry108981
