Well darn, wish I had made it starting January 1, 2010 but I can't change things when the contest is almost over. It wouldn't be fair but I will be running another one for everyone in the near future. ..don't worry about it, I'm hoping to see what is brought to the contest.. I know I participated in one way at least (with some voice help) and that is enough for me Be well and don't feel guilty about it. I'm still procrastinating for my self.. I don't want the added pressure of creating procrastination with a contest! -------------------- "move along, nothing to see here; these are not the droids you are looking for..."

Would it make a difference if I said I was born again Moviestormer? Techincally, I am kinda new because I have only made one movie. (The brilliant awesome flick called "The French Lesson." in theaters now!) ..well..just see my moviestorm page for the film.

It would be nice to have you enter but you joined Moviestorm in 2007 and that wouldn't be fair to the new users. However, I will hold another contest in the near future with the same prize and everyone will be eligible for that one. -------------------- |

Ok, thanks! :-) You are quite welcome. Good luck to you. I really liked this movie but I am not going to be a judge. I am having outside judges do this and their opinion will choose the winner. -------------------- |

Rules for the Make Me Laugh contest
I am running a contest for new users. The user has to have downloaded Moviestorm version 1.3 beginning March 31, 2010. They do not have to be a subscriber. Films can be made with any content packs you have. All work must be original, including music (although of course you can use the Moviestorm music content packs) or if you get written permission from the musician to use his/her music. No mods to be used. Just to make things clear, the rules for the contest must be followed including those not allowing use of copyrighted music unless you get permission from the musicians to use their music. Two of the movies so far have used copyrighted music and I have let the entrants know this and have asked if they could remove the music and re-render the films so their films will still qualify. I do hope they can do this because both were good movies. The one movie that was in question, does not have copyrighted music in it, but a clip that came with royalty free soundtracks. The other one is being fixed now as the film maker is also a music composer and he is writing his own music for it. So all the entries are qualified for the contest. -------------------- |

I should have repeated the rules ore often in this thread because there were so many posts a lot of people probably just skipped to the last post. -------------------- |

This may hurt my chances..But as a music guy I should let you know that "Royalty Free" in music does not mean free. It means that one way or another to obtain it, it costs money. This also means.. it is un-copyrighted music and is perfectly legal to use any way the purchaser sees fit. In other words many people can own and use the material as long as It's paid for...Which is also the only way to obtain it. Much like the Moviestorm content packs with the exception of the music packs. And I am guessing that this is in turn a part of several different composers creating a collaborative effort. Which means: each composer must agree to the same terms before the music can be used in a commercial form or project. Then again what do I know I only have a full 10 song cd and over 30 or so published and copyrighted original songs under my belt. I'm sorry, not trying to sound cocky but I know the music thing WAY better than the movie thing. I hope that this helps to clarify any questions that anyone may have about this issue. |

Oh really, what is your real name? I would like to hear more of your music and glad you changed it. The reason I made this rule is that I have a thing about creative endeavors being original because it is good for people to try something on their own and not just borrow ideas, art, music, etc for their own work. You find the best works when people create something on their own. And I do know the problems with using music for commercial films. I have three, one completed and two in production where I will be paying royalties to all the musicians and actors in the movies, as well as for any models I have used. Also, there are a lot of non-professional musicians out there who are fantastic. I know a lot of musicians and I regularly use (with permission) their music in my movies and when I get paid to do a movie, I pay them. -------------------- |
