You may find that you need to use a different file format to get the transparency to appear correctly in Max. I'd suggest using a TGA and mapping the alpha channel of the texture to transparency (I think the option is "Mono channel output: Alpha")
I think PNG transparency is seen as 32bit information, where TGA transparency is 24 colour information plus a further 8bit channel of transparency... Or something like that...

In Topic: Uninstalling NVIDIA toolkit on a Mac

Uninstalling the CG Toolkit isn't something that we've ever done, but I believe it's quite easy.
If you remove /Library/Frameworks/Cg.framework then the toolkit is essentially uninstalled.
Why does your friend think that they might need to do this?

Hi primaveranz,
The basic answer is that Unity is very open-ended when it comes to importing assets from different 3D content packages, so I'd guess that you can use which ever program you prefer.
There will still be some some standards that we'll have to set as far as artwork specifications, but generally Unity is much friendlier to different file formats and different source material. I would think (although we haven't checked yet) that you could use any of the popular 3D tools to create art for the new engine and it will slot right in. Chances are, we'll be using the .FBX format (though this is as yet undecided), so finding a decent exporter should no longer be a problem...
Hope this helps.

In Topic: Text to Speech?

I know the post that you are referring to, and I think it's a little misleading. I think what was meant by that post is that it is more difficult to create a convincing movie with text to speech, so not as many are featured.
I'm sure if we were presented with a movie that used TTS in an interesting or unique way, that enhanced the quality of the move instead of detracting from it, then I'm sure we would feature it.
Don't forget that there are a lot of very advanced 3rd party text to speech programs available, so it's simply a case of choosing the right tool for the right job.
