It was quite the day when the famous neck seam was solved. But today, I load up character with a collarless shirt and it seems the seam has returned.

Standard MS installation. It's a fresh install. Just the packs I've purchased. No mods. Nothing.

Any suggestions?

Or is this a known issue? If so, Ill tell him to put his shirt back on. lol

And it's not the tri-lighting either. Setting it to the default basic MS lighting actually makes it worse.

I have that happen when I roll the head die too many times for Java memory to handle it.

Is it still there after restarting MS?

Wow. Interesting. Restarting seems to have worked.

Thanks Corthew.

So what exactly causes this to happen? It can't be a java over-load because there is nothing on the set except my avatar.

Yeah I don't get it either. I suspect a problem with the garbage collection but that's just a guess.smile.gif

Hey, out of curiosity, how much space do your meshdata.data files in your addon folder occupy?

Ben_s was saying that MS loads them all into memory whether you are using them or not. Unchecking them in the Settings section doesn't keep them from loading into memory either apparently so if you have alot that could be causing issues.

Just something to check.

I had over 800megs in my addon folder.

I physically move the folders I am not presently using to a different location so they won't load and that seems to have eliminated the random crashing so far.

Mine is over 978mb. Quite Interesting.

Seems Moviestorm should devise a better way to manage this. Especially as more and more content is developed.

With only the MS mods this isn't a problem. I suspect they just never expected it to grow as fast as it did.

They are aware of it now though and hopefully they'll address it in a near future update.smile.gif

It's not loading them into memory, it is assigning them address space.

I dont think there is much to be done about it untill Dave gets a 64 bit version sorted out. Not sure when that would be, either.

PS: I set up a version of Moviestorm today, with just Base01, Core and an addon we are working on at the moment. Modders workshop loads in about 30 seconds.

I know its a technicality, but from our end, it doesn't matter what you call the place it loads too. It still occupies memory that could be used elsewhere.smile.gif

This neck seem thing happens sometimes for me too, sometimes when i change costume or first load a movie in, I find that if i adjust the neck morph slightly the seem will vannish again, and stay ok even when i move the morph lider back to its original position.

No, it realy does matter. If it was memory you were running out of, adding or assigning more memory might help. It's not, so it doesnt help.
