Can you not get into the graphics settings at all?
Sometimes I don't get the "Start" button on the bottom-right of that window (on Mac Mini), restarting fixes it.
As I understand it, the Macbook pro should be fine, its just the macbook and mac mini that need the graphics settings dialed right down to run it.

Hardware check comes first before you start Moviestorm. So you cannot access graphics settings before going through the hardware check.
jason7,
Have you tried rebooting your MBP?
If it fails, have you tried reinstalling Moviestorm?
The hardware check seems to be pretty unnecessary and discriminatory for me. It sucks if the dialog says, "Your graphics card is unable to run Moviestorm in full capability. You may get slow frame rates and bad graphical detail".

http://www.moviestor...2_Mac_Intel.dmg
Also, make sure you have this installed first:
http://developer.dow...2.0_Jan2008.dmg
But, say no to the updates(!)
At least that way, you should be able to run it until 1.0.5 comes out
Best of luck!
p.s. Just had a thought, try the Nvidia download first with 1.0.4

If you havnt, that might be an explanation for the hang.
Otherwise it will be usefull to get a copy of the boot.log file in the Moviestorm folder in your user directory; please run the launcher (so that moviestorm hangs), then attach that file to a reply post.

Ok Mace and Jason7,
Now that you can get into it, go into the graphics settings and turn OFF the tickboxes, and dial down the three sliders and see how you go. If all is well, start turning them on one by one. I need all mine on minimum on my mac book (non-pro) and Mac mini, but if you have the "pro" you may be able to get a bit more out of it, so experiment with the graphics settings.
Unfortunately, at this current stage of development, I make my movies on my Mac and then render them on a windows PC with the graphics settings FULL ON !
Hopefully now you can start making movies!
Enjoy!

Hello
I have just downloaded version 1.7.0 from the website "Moviestorm Education Unlimited", and I have installed the software on my MacBook Pro 10.13.6, Upon downloading I installed the Nvidia Cg-3.1.0013.app first and then MS I also had to download java 6 (deprecated) as I have java 8.
All the apps installed correctly but when I try and open the MS App all I get is a blank window with the title Moviestorm - Checking Hardware
This window stays blank and the app will never open.
I have tried all the suggestions on this forum so far to no avail, searching google and youtube did not turn up any new info.
Please does anyone know how I can get this software working on my MacBook Pro
Thank you

MS doesn't work with High Sierra or Sierra. Not sure about Yosemite. I have El Capt on a separate disc running MS.
