I love being creative, I love moviestorm......but the last couple of months have been real trying.

For some reason I have tons of ideas in my head for movies to make, but when I load moviestorm up I loose all motivation. I used to enjoy spending hours building sets, tweaking lighting and even making custom mods for my films, but now I am struggling to get motivated into even starting to build a set blink.gif

I keep saying to myself that I`m gonna spend a couple of hours on it tomorrow, but when the time comes I get stuck in my lack of motivation again. I`m finding it kind of frustrating that I have creative ideas, just not the will power to make them real. Normally I would say that I just don`t get the time because of my kids and work responsibilities, but it`s weekend again and just like the last few weekends my kids are away at their Mums, but I still don`t feel motivated.

By the way, did I say I`m getting frustrated? mellow.gif

Whenever you do something creative, you reach the point where you don't want to do it anymore. The trick is to ignore those feelings and keep going ahead. Some of the sets, especially for Vautrin are very complex and take a lot of time and I often get the feeling I don't want to do it, but I go ahead and keep working and then I get my interest back.

I agree with Lucinda, whenever you are doing something creative, self doubt and "lack of motivation" (there is a reason for the qoutation marks) is common. I've felt it many times , or maybe that's because I am just sleepy. I feel why am I doing this when I can watch R rated films or call my friends. Here's my remedy , although it may not work for you , since you working adults are too busy taking extreme tension in your lives, unecessary. You know what - do? I dream , I dream of my movie willbe like after it's all done. I imagine it playing on vimeo, my actors conversing , and the credit rolls playing. The sfx, background score, the works. Dream and get motivated. Another thing I do is, check out a good movie just before working on my movie. My favorite film, not 5 days before, 1 hour before working on my production.while working I also put on some music , you know some john mayer N blues etc. smile.gif

Think I`m gonna take baby steps.

Last night I got another new idea for a film, so I think it`s better I get Office loaded up and get it noted down with a basic script.

The film I have in mind is a paranormal style film kind of like The 13th floor, I can imagine production wise I`m gonna face some of those great challenges I had in my movie Entity. How I miss those days, the thrill I had from achieving what I thought would be impossible in moviestorm, and successfully realising the drama and emotion of the film that I had in my head.

Gonna get to it since my kids have tyaken over the tv and PS3 rolleyes.gif

I know just what you mean KV, when I have something challenging to do that I think will be impossible and stick to it and do it, it is a great feeling.

I've been a bit dragged out here to for a bit. I've managed to push through but its still aggravating.

I suspect weather and a cold/flu are playing the biggest role in this and I'm busily working on my diet to correct this.

Of course it could also be that you are experiencing some mid-life change. There are physical changes that kinda hit you suddenly as you get older. That can be a bit disorienting and depression is often the result even if you don't actually feel mentally depressed.

Take your vitamins.smile.gif

Especially the B vitamins. Centrum complete is good.

Yeah I`m taking Multibionta that also contain probiotics and other stuff which is supposed to help in vitality and unlock energy (something I need plenty of daily).

Hope you get yourself back on your feet mate, sickness is so rude that it peeps it`s head in when you don`t want it.

I have got a lot going on in my life now, when I`m not working I`m with my kids, when I am working I`m with kids lol. I`m also waiting on the finalisation of my divorce to (not upset by that because I wanted the divorce, just didn`t need or want the headaches that`s coming with it).

I took my first step yesterday in Moviestorm, while the kids took over my tv I decided to do some set designing for a film that keeps plaguing my mind lol, I came up with a hotel lobby and most of the floor with room that the story should take place in. I need to design a building exterior that would be the hotel and figure how to make the external set look like a busy city surrounding it, I`ll figure something out.

Also designed a couple of the lead characters, so I`m making progress there already, I just need to write a script out for it then grab somebody to do some lines for it.

This start should hopefully help rebuild my motivation and patience and get my creative juices going.

I think maybe it gets harder to kid yourself about how much work will be needed, that first step seems to commit you to so much.
Why not do something quick and easy to get yourself moving?

ROFL, so we did, great minds think alike!

You are right though, I should start small and work my way up again, but this darn movie in my head wont go away, and it`s gonna be a big challenge since it involves ghosts and other creepy things lol

Well this new project I`m working on "The 15th Floor" has got me very excited, and despite it`s challenge curve I think this is just what I need to get motivated again, I have already produced a large part of the script, almost finished the set designs and the character designs too!

I plan on bringing you all new spine chilling thrills soon!

That's kinda why i did a one liner joke because I tend to get all sapped out making things but jokes are not hard if its a joke you heard somewhere and its short. Not complicated and fun.

In any event I am sitting here staring at software that I just purchased that I had wanted for so long its wonnerful and I love it and it will help me make cool things but I am drained even though its cool.

When I am like that I just watch tv and vegetate for a bit then eventually the batteries recharge. Its like anything that requires thought and patience and problem solving. Your brain needs a holiday from it to recharge. ohmy.gif

Yup.....I currently have 5 movies lying in various bits all over the place and every few days I think of another storyline. But the thing that sorts out the "men" from the "boys" (sexist connotations aside) is the ability to just focus (and to paraphrase someone smart whose name escapes me) "Don't get it perfect, just get it made".

I always use the excuse that when I get back home from wherever I am now I will REALLY focus. But then I wander off again.

But this time....honest.....! wink.gif

You just need some inspiration. Be patient, don't scare the muse away smile.gif If you postpone doing what you love the most it means you actually have nothing to say at the very moment. Take a brake instead of forcing yourself to work
