This year's contest is being held in partnership with Australia's Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and JMC Academy in March, and there's an additional local prize of $1000, open exclusively to the South Western Sydney Region Machinima filmmakers. In another great coup for the contest, Tony Dyson, creator of Star Wars iconic robot R2-D2, will be heading the judging team.
Here's how it works.
On Friday, March 30 at 7pm teams will get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, that must be included in there film. By Sunday, April 1, the movie must be complete and uploaded by 7pm.
Each completed film is guaranteed a screening at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 April 2012 in Australia, and in Second Life in the following week.
The best films will also be screened at the International Championships held in the USA, and the winner of that gets to have their film screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
Registration for the competition is $48, Screening session admission is FREE. More details on <a href="http://www.48machini...chinima.com</a>
Good luck, everyone!

• QuickTime or AVI (QuickTime is preferred)
• Self-contained (that is, without references or links to other movie files)
• At least 720 pixels wide (1280 x 720 or even 1920 x 1080 is most often used)
• A 16:9 aspect ratio
• 25 fps - PAL
• If you're using QuickTime, you must use the H.264 or Sorenson 3 codec.
• If you're using AVI, you must use the Cinepak or DivX codec.

I check the options in AnyVideoConverter and it looks like it should do fine for the quicktime conversion but does anyone know if its PAL format because the framerate is 25fps or if something else is required for it to be PAL format?

Matt just posted a little after noon est yesterday. Does it fill up that fast or had entries already been being accepted for a few days? I filled out the form sometime around 10pm est last night and have not yet received the payment instructions email.

The first is to PapaG's question:
"The Machinima contest 2012 will have 3 timezones: Australia, USA (California PDT/PAC) and Europe."
The second one confuses me because everywhere else it says there is a limit:
"How many teams will be allowed to participate?
There is no limit."
Both are taken from this page:

Chantal is the boss so I'd guess what she says is pretty reliable.

Cool. I had emailed Chantal this morning to make sure I hadn't missed it. She sent me an email saying I should be getting the payment info soon.

My son said he'd help me do voices, for a cut. Hehe
