Hey all,

I've searched the forums here about playing video on a prim for background purposes, but did not find a straight forward answer. Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Thanks,

What problems are you having? As far as I remember, you just add the prim to the set, then go into Director mode, right click on the prop and choose "Play video". There are probably optimum video settings though.

What format is the video you're trying to play on the prim? Not every video file type will work nor be accepted. Besides that, Prima is right about the procedure to follow.

Think it has to be webm format now, but even if it wil still accept avi I would suggest you use webm as it works much faster in the directors view

Also, I think only some Primitives might be enabled to accept images/Videos, but if you know your way around the the workshop you can do it for most things by creating a 're-texture' and then setting the new texture to accept vids.

But i have to admit its been a while since i had the workshop fired up, so am a bit hazy on the memory of it

As a matter of fact most if not all props can accept images o video with some hacking in the Modder's Workshop, just selecting the right material and checking the 'User Image' option in the Template Material Editor:

Probably there are some combinations of attributes and/or values that prevent this from working.

The video has to be a WebM. Make sure the video is less than 30 seconds because Moviestorm seriously crashes during filming.
