Is Moviestorm Inc. Interested in User Commercial addon Development?

The only content developed in over a year.... is from the ModdersWorkshop users yet we have no way to generate keys to our addons...
Can I please have the required software to generate addon licence keys for the addons I make?
Or at the very least access to generate permanent licences from your own addon licence generator thingy... ?

I Would like if I could licence addons automatically within the modders-Workshop (without thinking twice about it). A permanent licence key generator per user that I can be sent to the user to unlock a commercial addon for that user alone.

It's obvious that their isn't much profit in in-house content development from the current user base(no new content in a very long time), so I guess ModdersWorkshop developers are the only people bringing new life to Moviestorm so why not give the option to licence? Seems like a Win Win for Moviestorm and 3rdParty developers....

What incentive and inspiration does MS Inc. offer with the latest 1.6 update to content developers to develop commercial addons?

  • MS-Points are useless to me when I have all the content I want and their is no way to transfer MS-points into Cash.
  • Modders can sell their Content to another users but user addons are not protected in the same ways as MS-addons are ;also encouraged to share around by using the new ShareMovie.
  • ModdersWorkshop has many parts missing (EG.Morph bodies, decals and reflections have to be entered via xml editors) that make developing content time-consuming
  • Users are encouraged to share their addons in a free-for-all fashion yet MS-in-house content is DRM.

A new development of "MS-Sharemovies"
MS-Sharemovies are great but not so good for developers who are selling commercial single user licences... An automatic inclusion of 3rdParty addons!...
Sure, a Sharemovie can have it's 3rdParty addons stripped manually out of the zip file and still share the 'MS-Sharemovie'... though I can't see most people doing that.
I did make some "starter-movies" within addons that do the same thing as "MS-sharemovie"; no problems of automatically including something that is licenced for me to use but not to share...

I'm sure chris or shirley wouldn't be too happy if i included their commercial addons in my sharemovie...

I feel that MS-Sharemovies should be put on hold until 3rdParty users can have an option with their addons to disallow sharing or require a user to have a simple licence to use... at the very least to have an option to not- include a 3rdParty addon (if it is theirs to include and they want to share it for everybody)

What if some 3rdParty addon developers aren't happy to have people giving away their single user licensed addons to other users who haven't payed for a licence to use..? MS-sharemovies as they stand at the moment assumes that non-DRMed addons are free to share around to everybody...

Of Course being able to License addons isn't of value to Content developers who don't commercialise their content. This Post is not about them (IE. --------... so please don't feel it is necessary to talk about that in this forum post... This is about 3rdParty commercial content developers and a question about how MS Inc. regards it's 3rdParty Content developers and what will be done for them in the near future... )

I'm still in hope it wouldn't be too complicated implementing ModdersWorkshop user licencing sometime soon...

Thankfully Moviestorm users play fair with their Moviestorm addons not being stripped of DRM and/or sharing around 3rdParty addons... Possibly due to the very low prices asked to buy an addon by the 3rdParty Developers and moviestorm Inc. in-house alike.
Thanks for taking the time in Reading my post and hope to get some reply from Moviestorm Inc. (Staff spokesperson)

Hi Tree,
I've looked through this, and think we understand your concerns. We have been discussing this today, and I'm going to write up some suggestions/solutions so we can work out what we can do here.

In the 1.6 beta, we have a new feature that is intended to aid sharing a movie from one computer to another.

It determines what addons a movie is using, then packages up:
a list of the licenced addons that are required
all free addons that are required
and a copy of the movie

These are all packaged into a .sharedmovie file, which can be installed in the launcher. That promps the user to buy any licenced addons, installs any free addons, and copies the movie into their Movies folder.

This is potentially a problem as there is no current way of distinguishing an addon that is free from an addon that is just published as free, but is intended to be sold.

Well I'm sure all Moviestorm users are incredibly honest and would never dream of abusing such a device or depriving the hard working modders of the frankly ridiculously small fee for their time and effort.

1.6 is only available to a very select few isn't it?

It definitely needs resolving, I am sure the regulars who post in this forum would never do so willingly, but the larger MS community might share a movie without even realizing it was doing that.

Btw Chriss, you might wanna send Ben a bill for £5.00 or whatever it was you charged for your Computers addon, as I did need to submit a shared movie to him that demonstrated a bug in 1.6.0 which was affecting any movies using your computers addon, which Ben has now fixed.

All the same he now has a free copy of your addon, which I guessed was ok with it being Ben and a bug fix issue, but you might wanna bill him for it tongue.gif

On a serious note though I did email it directly to him so noone else could have accessed it.

But it does highlight the issue.

So far, this is what modder's have been relying on with any paid addons, as the people buying them are already able to distribute them if they are so inclined. The sharedmovie feature just makes the process easier.

The 1.6 beta is available to people on the forums.
