I have been trying to get a character to pick up or even just sit and read a book in the Reading Room set and I can't find any way to do it. There is a book prop, but since I have been reading other posts about props which explains about handheld props it seems the book prop is not useable, but I'm thinking I must be overlooking something because it seems inconceivable that there wouldn't be a useable book prob in a Reading Room set. (In the Rock Band set characters can pick up guitars, and on other sets characters can talk on phones or use guns.) Is there something I'm not doing right? Or some way to make this work? I really want to be able to have at least one character in the Reading Room be able to read a book and put it down. I'm in the trial mode and so as others have said, hopefully someone will reply soon. Thanks for any help!

Yes there is a usuable book prop that a character can hold and read. I don't know if it is in the trial version though.

The reading animations are contained in the Domestic Drama addon pack. It is set up for reading standing up or in bed, BUT I know you can use one of the sitting positions too. I use one of the big winged chairs which seems to seat characters a bit lower.. It works even thought the timeline will turn red.

it works great in the seated posture, and with a bit of clever cutting, you can give the illusion that the book has been picked up or put down (see my movie "the raven" for an example)

It's amazing what you did with The Raven, and the book prop - I now have the domestic drama pack and therefore the book prop, but I am completely unable to figure out how to enable the character to be holding it or for the book to be open with the character in a reading mode as in The Raven. The book prop is old fashioned looking and looks like the same one you used. I'd be so grateful if you could tell me what you did to make it useable.

Hi,
There are two versions of the book. A stationery prop which you add in the Set Workshop and a usable one which you add in the Director's mode. For the latter, right click on the puppet and choose "Use Prop" then select the book from the panel that appears. Another panel will appear. Choose "Read Standing" (even if the actor is sitting down) and the activity will be added to the timeline.
