Do the movies need to be new ones, or can we enter ones we have previously released, If previously released ones are allowed then I would like to enter Why God if only new ones are allowed, I will see if I can fit one in to the time scale.

Older videos are accepted as long as they don't break the rules and both of these are great entries! Thank you! smile.gif

Nobody tell BA, he may re-enter that video he did for the Marillion song "Whatever is wrong with you" ohmy.gif

Cool. smile.gif

Definitely going to try to crank out another one.smile.gif

I wish Rocketship met the requirements but it has voiceovers beyond the lyrics and I used Orbiter2010 for the shuttle launch.

Oh...Are images allowed if the are real world?

So I'm guessing, that the effects clause for the contest would also exclude "green screen".. and transparency--

I'll see what I can come up with in the near future smile.gif

You could use an image as a background on a prim in moviestorm if that's what you were thinking, but you can't add footage shot from a "real world" video recording device.

Green screening, blue screening, transparency is all out. The footage needs to be filmed in Moviestorm. I'm allowing outside editing because depending on how technical your video is (motions, change moods, gestures, lasers, etc) it can slow down drastically the larger your scene becomes. This way you can make a movie for each scene and edit them together in another program. Hope that makes sense. smile.gif

Thanks Squirrelygirl!

It makes sense, I understand that since working on the gestures comp and only using moviestorm with horribly complex stuff, that even a short stint can take forever to work with.. I almost beat my head against the computer for this last one when I discovered my java failed so badly, it wiped out the entire file and I was only in luck because I made a vanity back up because I made screen shots to show it off..

I almost ended up with a video of me screaming, and someone hitting their head against a laptop wink.gif it may have worked too, I don't know. blink.gif

Thanks again for putting up your own comp! smile.gif

I thought of this question today:

By telling a story, do you mean the video tells a story that the music enhances and vis a vis, or does the music have to still tell the story on its own if there was no video to support it?

The reason I ask is that most of my stuff tends to be a bit general in the absence of a video to show specific connections to the real world through story.

Very cool, I've always thought of doing a music video, and now I have more reasons to do so.

I shall be entering this contest smile.gif

Hi Squirrely,

Are there any rules on the copyright status of the songs we pick, or are we going for the "just-a-bit-of-fun" approach?

The reason I ask is that I came across a triffic song on www.archive.org, but further digging shows it to be a proper, rights-protected song...

Cheers!

I don´t know how the rules are there overseas (from beautiful Norway smile.gif ) but dosen´t that rule apply to everything that´s uploaded here? (It´s a honest question! mellow.gif )

A very good point. Yes I think you're right, but there are many examples that probably don't have the proper permission.

[Runs off to see if permission can be sought from the Artist in Question]

Just an idea (but don´t know if it´s legal) How about using royalty free music and make your own text and song to it? Like Kevin MacLeod is a great composer with a huge variety of music genre.
I´m just thinking loud wink.gif Kevin MacLeod

Edit: Yes he allows you to sing over his music.

Pretty sure the copyright rule doesn't apply in this competition. Andy submitted his "Why God Why" video, and I believe that song is copyrighted, and Squirelygirl approved it, so....
