Hi,
I would need some help for the following pb please. I bought a new computer working with Windows Seven (I was previously on XP on my old computer). I downloaded Moviestorm latest version from the your website. Then I copied all the mods I was using and my Movies & Stock folders (coming from C:/Documents and Settings/HP_Administrateur/Moviestorm). Now I'm trying to load the movies I made on the old computer. 2 of them open fine but the others not : Moviestorm ask for some the old Greetingstorm and/or Photostorm files. But after I enable them on the settings and then try to load these movies again Moviestorm crash I'm attaching the logfile hoping that it may help you to give me some tips on how to solve this problem. Thanks in advance for any hint

Go to your settings when you open Moviestorm and make sure that the addons for Greeting/Photostorm are enabled because it looks like from the log text that they are disabled. Also when you install the new version of Moviestorm, it should update those addons. Did it?

I can provide a 2d log where they are enebled if required. |

That's very odd.
When you enable to AddOns, are you restarting Moviestorm before trying to load the movies? If so, my guess is that there is something else causing the problem... It may be worth trying to find a prop called "dice12sided" to correct the errors shown in the log? " !!!Movie loading aborted - missing resources: Data/Props/Dice12Sided/Textures/Dome.dds Data/Props/Pictures_Signs/Posters/DESCRIPTOR (fatal) Data/Props/Technology/Computing/Laptop_03/Textures/Laptop_Screen_Emit.dds Data/Props/Held_Prop/Technology/SmartPhone/Textures/Dome.dds " Hope this helps. -------------------- Amos Willbond

Thanx for trying to help to. Well I checked the mods I used to have and they are now the same on the old and the new computers, they are all enabled to now. Mmmmh now I got crashes all the time, starting a new "film" (after a few time) or trying to load an old movie. I tried something else by looking at a java angle, I tried with 32 bits then 64 bits, evetytime it's the same. I'm really lost now Well I attached the last LOG file and also the last crash log file I've got.

That last log is just indicating that you are out of memory.
What is your Moviestorm heapspace set to? And how many user created addons have you got loaded? My first guess would be that you are simply trying to load too many AddOns at once, and that Java is simply running out of resources. You say that you have tried both 32-bits and 64-bits? That rings alarm bells for me, as your "Java" installation actually has nothing to do with Moviestorm. Moviestorm has it's own instance of Java that shouldn't be touched. My first advice would be to disable all user created packs that you know that you are not using. Try to reload your project and see if you are able to. -------------------- Amos Willbond

My heapspace is set to : -Xmx800M.
Number of user created addons I got : about 90 QUOTE My first advice would be to disable all user created packs that you know that you are not using. Try to reload your project and see if you are able to. > I just tried and indeed... it works (the loading of my old movies) ! Well maybe it's a question of old mods compatibility, I guess. So I will carefully use them in my next works.Thank you very much. |

Glad that works for you.
I think the problem was a combination of a high heapspace allocation coupled with trying to load too many AddOns at the same time. As Moviestorm is a 32 bit application, it can only ever access a certain amount of memory (I forget what the actual value is). If you exceed this value by loading too many AddOns (Moviestorm needs access to all loaded AddOns as soon as you start a scene), it will just crash. I'm glad that you got it working, try to only load the custom AddOns for specific projects in future, and you should be ok. -------------------- Amos Willbond

My heapspace is set to : -Xmx800M. Just in case you run into the same problem again Alutt, I had similar problems even with the heap set to 800. I reverted to 512 (800 was only required for earlier versions of MS) and it has worked fine ever since. Cheers. -------------------- "I have had the same problem with getting the wheels to rotate properly with animated cars. They have to be all the same size and round and that helps a bit." I think the problem was a combination of a high heapspace allocation coupled with trying to load too many AddOns at the same time. As Moviestorm is a 32 bit application, it can only ever access a certain amount of memory (I forget what the actual value is). I'm glad that you got it working, try to only load the custom AddOns for specific projects in future, and you should be ok. On my previous/old computer, everything worked fine (I mean the all usermade addons I've got).... I guess (don't know) you have a 64 bits version of Moviestorm on your list of projects for the future. I believed, downloading MS from the start, that it already was the case. Anyway, I'll follow your advice too (just using mods I need on the current project : it's just a little annoying for me, considering that I often start from the objects I've got to find ideas, well I can live without this, never mind Thanks again, Moviestorm crew is always very reactive and efficient. |
