hi all,
so, I'm going to download the new Windows 8 Beta (or the Consumer Preview, to give its proper name. Why does everything have to be so darn posh nowadays?)
From the screenshots online, (some links below) it is significantly different to the current windows' OS. It's also specifically designed for touch screens and tablets, the former of which I am lucky enough to have.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried Win8 CP? If so what do they think? Even if you have seen the screenshots, opinions?
Also, on a more technical note, will it affect the running of Moviestorm at all? I still have my Win7 laptop to use MS on if that is the case, but it would be nice to try out MS on Win8 CP.
Looking forward to hearing all your views!
Charlie

The problem is that since it is only a tester version essentially the OS will be buggy and will lack optimisations. I took part in the Win7 public trial and there were loads of issues such as programs failing to load, driver incompatibility and crashing. This is to be expected from a pre-release OS.

Also Moviestorm will most likely be unable to assist with certain issues (if any) as Win8 wont be officially supported at this time.

I haven`t tried Win8 personally, to be honest I wont be testing it either since I am happy with Win7 64, it runs everything just the way I want it too.

I think I'm going to dual boot instead of completely installing it, that way I have more options if I
Hate Win8 CP. I don't really like the look of Win8 but of
It is the future of Microsoft then I guess you
Have to get used to it :/

I switched from Windows 2000 to Windows XP about 4-5 years ago. Vista was just comming out.
I like to wait for things to settle down a little before I upgrade.

Every program I have works on Windows 7 and I have another computer with Windows XP which actually I like better and all the programs work on that one too. So I don't think I will upgrade even though my husband can get it for free along with all Microsoft products because he is in the computer industry.

The interface looks boring and unimaginative. Looks like something a 10 year old put together using windows paint.

There are certain aspects to it that I like, but it is genuinely the trickiest OS I have ever used, for some reason, they've did away with the close and minimise buttons for certain apps, the home page is all linked to the Internet which I really don't want, and they expect me to splash out on apps and videos from some stupid site I've never heard of before. And the. For some bizarre reason, when I want to access my documents, I have to click on the desktop, to get to the old style win-7 desktop, which doesn't have a start menu, because you access yw desktop from the start menu! It's absolutely stupid, and seems very lazy, like they were trying with it then just gave up halfway through, and chucked the old stuff in on top of this new one.

Well I have only recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional and I will be damned if I'm going to shell out more money to Microsoft for Windows 8 the toddler edition smile.gif
