edit: and because presumably the browser screen is on a different scale, so holding your thumb up wouldn't work as a rule of thumb.

I'm not sure I understand why sigs would be too wide. Are they causing a distortion on your page? I could understand too high because that would cause readability issues between posts. But I don't see any reason why the width would matter.

I think that all banner signatures should conform to the recognised web banner size of 468x60. This size should be compatible with 99.9% of screen resolutions, and for the 0.1% that it is not compatible with, wont be using these forums, because their computers wont be capable of running MS
