In the directors view, hold down Shift, and drag the car. It should create a motion path on the timeline. If you want the path to curve, you can then later scrub the timeline to a point during the path, and hold down shift or control and drag the car again - this adds extra control points to the path, making it curve.

If you want your car to fly, you can hold shift+control at the same time, and drag the car, to move it vertically.
These controls also apply to some other mobile props too.

For some reason getting the car to move is not that simple. When doing as you say the car spins and does not go straight.Any suggestions to not just make the car move but getting it to move straight?

What car are you using? This sounds more like a user-created mod which was not oriented correctly to start with...

It only goes forwards, I'm afraid, so if you drag it back hoping for a reverse, you will be disapointed.
Additionally, you have to drag it a decent distance for it to work well, sometimes it just spins on the spot if you just drag it a little bit.
