IMPORTING A MODEL (FROM GOOGLE WAREHOUSE) USING SKETCHUP

I have a Mac. I imported a model using Google Sketchup and then exported it to my computer as a Google Earth file. I am trying to unzip it and convert it for use within Moviestorm. I was trying to following the instructions given in Modshop Beginners guide that says I need to download both NBCONV and 7ZIP which I did. But when I try to run these application, the only thing that happens is a text file opens up with a message stating this program cannot run in DOS.

What am I doing wrong? Is there another way to export 3d models into Moviestorm using an Imac?

Why are you saving the file as a Google Earth file?
And where are you reading the instructions from? It sounds to me like they are out of date.
Admittedly I don't have a Mac but I understood that they now had the ability to use the Importer wizard for Sketchup. If so, you just need to download the file from the Warehouse and save it in Sketchup 6 format then open the Modders Workshop and use the import option.
You do have a logon for Modders Workshop don't you?

Some of the models in Google Sketchup Warehouse only come as KMZ or Collada files. I have never been able to figure it out either. They just don't unzip at all.

I think you may have found some somewhat out of date instructions.

Using the sketchup importer on a mac now requires:
Update Moviestorm to at least 1.5.1 (or 1.5.2 if you have leopard or tiger).
Download the sketchup file (in the format for sketchup 8 or older).
Start the modders workshop
(wait)
From the menu select 'Wizards'->'Import from sketchup'
Go through the wizard's steps.

I would sugest trying with a simple model first - there are sketchup models that have substantially more detail (polygons or textures) than works well in Moviestorm. I would sugest looking for models with a smaller filesize, such as under 2MB.

i loaded a mac version yesterday, it says 1.5
how do i get 1.51, or 1.52?
i see sketchup 8 in the wizard but it cannot see my model for some reason, either saved as ver 6 or 8.
any ideas?

Is that an Education version? I think Ben said that they don't automatically update. If it is not then it should automatically offer you an update if you start MS then wait a few secs before pressing "Start"

Hi there!

I posted this help request about a year ago and I am just now getting back into modding and importing 3d assets from google 3d warehouse into Moviestrom via Sketchup.

What I want to know is if the above procedure described by Ben still applies. I have a Mac. Do I need to get a modders license first and then download Modders Workshop?

Are there any video tutorials that exist for this procedure?
