Hi Ben
I've just transferred data onto a new iMac using Lion, downloaded the link you gave above but Moviestorm won't open any file - I get a screen of messages (see screen dump) saying that content is missing. The file opens fine on my mac mini. Any ideas when it will work properly on Lion? |

You're screen dump seems to be missing, but if you got as far as being able to hit 'Load movie' then this isnt the problem you are having.
I would imagine that you might well need to install some of the extra addons or mods you have used to create your movie in the first place, if you are loading an existing movie. -------------------- Ben Sanders

OK - I just loaded up another file and Moviestorm works fine (yay) but it uses those same add ons as the first file I opened which I just checked still doesn't load well - it loads, but I can't move around or zoom in and the screen constantly flickers. I checked on the add ons section and the license hasn't expired. |

This is definitely missing or disabled addons.
From the little I see of the screenshot, it appears that you have not installed or not enabled the General Cars addon; there may be others too. Check the settings page - it should provide a list of addons. Most of your packs should say 'Expired 201 days' beside them, and have a tick. If they dont have a tick, either you need to tick them, or if they say 'Preview' then you need to install them. To install content packs, you should be able to just start the launcher, and it will get on with downloading packs for you. -------------------- Ben Sanders

When I click on 'settings' the 'general cars' add-on shows 'expires 201+ days'.
When I click on 'Get more content' all of the add ons show 'uninstall' which suggests they're all correctly installed. |

OK. I've just opened two other files that use the General Cars add-on that seems to be causing the problem. One opens and works fine, the other doesn't. Additionally I found that he error message suggests that the add-on is 'unlicensed' (see attachment) which doesn't make any sense as it's available in one other file.
I've attached a second screen shot which I've never seen before - 'broken' in the character settings, but other than that the file loads fine. It also uses the General Cars add-on.

According to that screenshot, 'General Cars' is unlicenced; if it is saying it is licenced on the settings screen, that is somewhat confusing.
Please could you load one of the movies you are having problems with, then go find the log.txt for me. This is created in the Moviestorm user folder. It is emptied each time you start Moviestorm, so please reproduce the problem first. It's in: Macs: Users/[Username]/Moviestorm Then attach the log.txt using the upload button, to a reply. -------------------- Ben Sanders

Hi Ben
Log.txt attached. This is from a different file from the previous screenshots, but the same problems. When accessing the scene creator section (icon at end on left) the screen just shows black - no detail at all. Thanks Stuart

According to that log, it is getting the licence correctly, but when it tries to load the movie, it fails to find the skeleton for that car - this suggests that there was a problem with your installation.
It is the right hand drive variant of one of the cars, that was added in a patch, so it might be important to make sure it is patched correctly too. You could try reinstalling that content pack first. First, right click on the Moviestorm.app and select 'show contents', then browse to 'Contents/Resources/Downloads', and delete the file 'GeneralCars.addon' to ensure that it gets a clean version from the internet when reinstalling. Start the launcher, then click 'get more content' then find 'General Cars' in the list of content packs, and click 'uninstall'. Once it is uninstalled, close the launcher, and start the launcher again. Hopefully it will start installing General Cars again. Let it install, and try your movies again. If this does not work, you may need to do a complete Moviestorm reinstall. -------------------- Ben Sanders

If this does not work, you may need to do a complete Moviestorm reinstall. Thanks Ben, though I'm not hopeful - one of the files didn't even load 'Base01'. I'm thinking of changing things on my system - using something like 'Parallels' or 'VMWare' on my Mac with windows 7 to run Moviestorm instead of running it on the Mac directly. I presume that Moviestorm files created on Mac will run without problems on the PC version? (i.e. without having to recreate all of them? - I couldn't cope with having to do that!) Can you see any other problems with doing things that way? |

Yes, Moviestorm saved files are compatible cross platform between mac and pc.
I do think that you will be better persisting with trying to get a mac version correctly installed - using a windows emulator will probably provide worse access to your graphics drivers (and may only work with shaders off). If it is actually running windows with full access to the graphics card, it should be fine, though. It would be interesting to see if the files actually exist that it is failing to find. -------------------- Ben Sanders

It's working! After a re-install I'm gradually re-installing all of the add ons as each file needs them and (fingers crossed) everything seems stable. Thank you so much!
On a side note, I use the educational version as I wanted to try and use it with my students (our school computers can't handle it at all, though) - would the full version get rid of the little logo in the bottom left hand corner? Thank you again Ben Stuart |

Getting rid of the logo in the corner is a matter of using the custom render option, and unticking the 'Add Moviestorm Ident' tick.

Can you tell me where I'd find the custom render option?

I found the render button - my last screen on the old computer wasn't large enough to show the 'custom' render box without scrolling down!
