I have a page on Facebook called Favorite Moviestorm Movies. https://www.facebook...68539153258700/

I can post Moviestorm movies on this page and other people can upload their Moviestorm videos there too. this would be a good solution to the problems we will have if Moviestorm really stops hosting our movies. A lot of us could start Facebook pages for Moviestorm movies. All of you are free to upload your movies to my page.I don't know if it uses webm or not so I uploaded my WMV version of my videos. If you have problems uploading your videos to this page, let me know and give me a link where I can download the movie and I will upload it there. This is a free service too. This page is a public page too so a lot of people will see your movies. If I find that there are only so many videos I can upload, I will create more pages for Moviestorm movies.

I'm not a fan of Facebook, thus I don't have an account, and your group is not a public page, it can be only accessed if you are logged in.

Well that is too bad because Facebook is great. I have even found old high school friends on there as wellas people I knew in New York and San Francisco when I lived in those areas. You don't have to be a member of the group to see the page and all the members, videos, photos and everything else.

That is not true Primaveranz, people post links to their movies on the page and write other messages to me and to other members there. It is a very friendly and nice group.

Primaveranz,if you don't like my Moviestorm page on Facebook, start one of your own. People are allowed to post links to their movies and discuss other things on the page I have on facebook.

My Two Cents:

The whole structure of the Facebook page for movies just doesn't work. There needs to be some structure with categories and persistent placement of the movies in a nested location that can be browsed. The timeline approach leads to both movies and comments being intermingled and items can get buried rather quickly. The lack of an administrative presence will lend itself to spam abuse.

It wouldn't be something I would consider using for my movies.

Nahton, you have control over your own page so you can remove movies you don't want there. I only want Moviestorm movies on my Favorite Moviestorm Movies page. No you can't organize them with different types of movies the way you can here on Moviestorm but something has to be done to replace the Moviestorm movies page and Facebook is free to use. Google apps is not free. The Google drive is free to use but it would not play a movie on the drive, you could just upload them there but I think with Google Apps you can set up a website where you could put movies on it. I will look at other website buildings and see what else I can come up with that is not expensive.

WIX is free and they have where you can upload videos and create your own website for them. Here is the link:

http://www.wix.com/w...h...3A//tile_lp

So I am going to set one up there for Moviestorm movies.

Well you can't upload movies to WIX. You have to use a URL from either You Tube or Vimeo.

I also found I page which is only $5.00 a month and you can upload videos to it as well as do a lot of other things and you have unlimited space to use too. Here is the link to Ipage

http://www.ipage.com...-make-a-website

So I might start a webpage there for people to upload their Moviestorm videos.

I see 4 posts since May.

Lucinda, there is a bit of a difference between a page and a group on facebook. Yours is a group. They are good but a page has admins and more control. A group has limited control.
It would look like this to the admins:

and as a regular page to everyone else.

This is a page I run. I can add or delete admins as needed. I also have full control over what is posted on the page just as if I were an admin on the MS forums or any other forum or website.

This is what most people would want. Groups are ok for some things (the Passion Competition is a groups page) but for full control and posting abilities, a page is better than a group.
The Harb40 Passion Competition now has it's own website.

Well right now I am more interested in creating a website where people can post their Moviestorm movies than making my own movies or addons. So I am going to try out Ipage and see how well that will work.

That is the way I am. I am more interested in helping Moviestorm and other film makers than I am in my own film making career.

I started the website with IPaqe, however, you can't upload videos to it unless they are Flash, but you can embed videos from other sites. Since Moviestorm is closing the video page, then people who want their videos on this new website, will have to give me links to sites where they have uploaded their movies that give you embed code.

Here is the link to the website Favoritemoviestormmovies.com

I can import You Tube videos to this site so if you upload your movies to You Tube, I can put them on this exclusive Moviestorm movies website.

I think the important thing is to have an upload site with a community attached.
The community bit is important.

Yes you are right. I hope we can convince Moviestorm to not remove the Movies pages.

I think it is the servers who are removing the movies, by breaking down.

Right, and they probably can't afford to get new servers either.

I think it is the work involved as well. When this site was set up there were angel investors funding development. Now everything has to be funded by money earned, and because the major development cycle is over, it made sense to reduce overheads by reducing staffing levels (much as we miss those who have gone!)
I'm very aware of the Antics story....good machinima tool..decided there just wasn't enough revenue generated from movie hobbyists, so pulled the plug and specialised in legal reconstructions etc
My fear is that we are in the same boat. We need to feel lucky that MS is still available to us.
Running a forum, a support service, a movie hosting site....all for a bunch of customers who aren't paying their way makes no sense.
I, personally, want to keep the support service going as a priority. Most modders will tell you that without Ben we really are sunk.
If we as users are seen as 'free quality control / beta testers / content creators' we stand a chance of keeping a toe in the door.
Everything else we can manage by ourselves.
