Build Number: 29994
Release Version: Moviestorm 1.5.3
New features
- Look At now has a customizer which allows you to change:
- the duration of the look at blend,
- where on the target the character is looking,
- and to do the look at with just the head, just the eyes, or both the head and eyes
- Switching between the Cutting Room and the Camera View or Director's View keeps the timeline position, if the Cutting Room is showing a view of the scene.
- When adding new actions to the timeline, or moving existing actions, Moviestorm needs to do a Retake, which has received the following improvements:
- Retake time is now based on the number of activities in your movie, rather than the number of frames (at 25 frames per second).
- Retake is now faster for movies using free shot camera keyframes.
- Retake is now faster for movies using motion paths (eg for ghosts or cars).
- Ceilings now cast shadows, provided Interior lighting is disabled.
- The Script Editor now has a 'clear timeline' option when right clicking on the current scene, which removes all activities in that scene.
- The prop customizer in the set workshop now has an option to stop a prop casting shadows. This will also stop it reducing shadowmap quality, which can otherwise happen for props near the edges of your scene.
- In the Camera View or Cutting Room View, there is an aspect ratio option on the Camera View large button triangle menu. This lets you see the camera framing with a different aspect ratio. Note: rendering is still 16x9.
- When right clicking on the timeline to bring up the bookmark menu, there is now an option to go to a specific time.
- There are now bookmark options in the Camera View and the Script Editor (in addition to the Director's View and Cutting Room).
- In the Cutting Room, there is now a right click option on titles, to generate titles from the dialogue. This uses the text for 'say' activities.
- The cel-shading tick box on the lighting settings no longer overrides the movie cel-shading tick box on the script settings unless you tell it to.
- The 'Home' key now centres the view.
- The timeline now does not use invisible buttons that only appear when you mouse over them. Instead the ends of activities are hot-zones for different drag behaviours.
- Activities that are reduced to zero length on the timeline now show as a red square, instead of a triangle.
- The timeline in the Script Editor now syncs to the main timeline.
- The minimum clip duration in the Cutting Room is now 1/25th second (instead of 1/4 second)
- The timeline zoom is exponential rather than linear, letting you zoom in or out more.
- The publisher of an addon is shown in tooltips when looking at the Addon settings panel, or at the tooltips for a prop or costume from that addon.
- The mini timeline underneath the Master Monitor is now displayed differently, showing the proportion of the timeline that is visible, and where the timeline marker is at.
Resolved issues
- User customized keyboard bindings will be used even when one has not just changed them. Note: This may change the play/pause default from 'space' to 'enter' for some users. You can redefine it back.
- Remove mark now works on marks that do not have an associated walk.
- When a lamp is turned on or off on the timeline, the emissive for the lamp now changes correctly.
- In the Dressing Room, the button for big random changes provides a random change when used with morphable hair.
- Replacing the set with an empty set does not stop you going to the Set Workshop after loading a movie.
- A mood change with 'Generate Look Ats' disabled now stops the character doing any existing improvised look ats.
- The 'Dead' mood now prevents any automatic look at activities, or any improvisation.
- When you delete an activity from the timeline, or an automatic play finishes, you should now be left just after the last activity finished, ready to put in a new action.
- Very long (eg over 6 min) clips now display correctly on the Cutting Room timeline.
- The video clip bin in the Director's view no longer displays menu options that are for the Cutting Room only.
- Walking across a mobile nav mesh should now blend better with gestures.
- Held prop previews now display held props in disabled packs that contain all the animations for those props.
- When taking screenshots in the Camera View with the snapshot button, the resulting images now include depth of field.
- In the Set Workshop, if one deletes a prop, then the customizer for that prop closes if it was open.
- Starting playing with the timeline at the exact end of a Stand Up activity now plays back correctly.
- Audio does not incorrectly stop part way through if you stop and restart it.
- The say record buttons are now play/stop buttons rather than having a separate stop.
- Loading a multi-scene movie that was saved in the Cutting Room will go straight to the Cutting Room rather than asking which scene to go to then going to the Cutting Room.
- Going to the Dressing Room with the Gesture Sequence interface open no longer results in missing the character in the Dressing Room.
- Having a broken video in your movie no longer stops it from loading.
- Leaving the Cutting Room and going back to it no longer results in broken thumbnails on clips.
- When changing the duration of a walk, it should move later activities along to provide space.
- When using the image browser, images over 4 megapixels now warn the user to resize them, rather than risking breaking Moviestorm.
- Memory leak fix: Moviestorm no longer holds onto copies of videos that were used as previews, or that were used on the Cutting Room timeline, or that were deleted.
- Modders workshop: changed the 'Move to' menu so that you can scroll through the list of addons.
- Modders workshop: fixed the 'Browse' button so that it works for props that have spaces in their folder names.
