Vista Installation

We strongly recommend that existing Moviestorm users running Vista should reinstall Moviestorm rather than using the automatic patcher.

The Moviestorm installer provides Windows Vista user with two methods of running Moviestorm. Shortcuts to these two methods will appear in your Start Menu under the Moviestorm General Release folder, as Moviestorm and Moviestorm for non-admin users. We recommend that you run Moviestorm in Admin mode, by choosing the standard Moviestorm shortcut. When you click this shortcut, Vista’s User Account Control system will ask you to confirm your actions. At the prompt An unidentified program wants access to your computer, choose Allow: I trust this program. I know where it’s from or what it’s for. Moviestorm will now start (in Vista Admin mode).

If you want to run Moviestorm from a non-admin account, or without allowing elevated Admin privilages, then use the shortcut called Moviestorm for non-admin users. If you attempt to install updates or new content whilst in non-admin mode, Moviestorm will attempt to restart in Admin mode.

Note: If you use the Modder’s Workshop, or want to install any modded content packs using the Install button in the settings menu Addons tab, then please ensure you are using Moviestorm in Admin mode, otherwise the changes will not install correctly.

Uninstalling a pre-1.1 version of Moviestorm

Moviestorm can be uninstalled in the same way as any other program on your computer. When the uninstallation process has finished, you should open Windows Explorer, and navigate to the directory C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\[Moviestorm installation path] where [USERNAME] is your Vista username, and [Moviestorm installation path] is Program Files/Moviestorm if you installed Moviestorm to the default directory. You can safely delete everything in this directory.
