Lucinda, kkffoo - I've notified QA and asked them to take a look at it. (It was working last time I tried it, so something's obviously changed!)

Re: Allowing user images on props
Firstly, this is what I would do:
Select the prop
Bring up the templates window (4th button) and the template editor (1st button)
Select one of the templates you want to modify or create a varient of from the templates window)
Select the material (in the template editor) you want to allow user textures on.
Tick the 'User Image' box. (Or the Tintable box, if you want)
On the template window, click the 'Save template' button - if you give the new template a different name, then it shouldnt be overwritten by future patches.

The new template should then appear in the prop browser in the set workshop.

If this is what you were doing already, then I will have to have a further look at what has been happening.

Hands up who wants:

1 - a modder's FAQ
2 - a list of best mods / neat tricks
3 - tools to import assets from Blender / 3DS Max / Maya whatever

it might take a while , but you never know.

Even better, out there there maybe an uber-modder who fancies just doing that.
