Well this was fun. I just bought a 6 month subscription for my website at 110mb.com and I get on just now to see that my site has been completely eradicated. No warning. No nothing.

Their TOS states:

Q: Will my site ever get deleted?

Condition

You (1) phish, or (2) spam other sites, or (3) use your account to hack others, or (4) treat account mainly as file storage, or (5) host proxy/torrent scripts, or (6) selling pharmacy pills/drugs, or (7) host child porn

Action by 110MB
Automated account suspension.

Well seeing as I did none of those "conditions" I looked further into their TOS.

Condition
You violate any of our TOS accidentally/purposefully, except above 7 violations.

Action by 110MB
You'll get an email notice to fix it within 48 hours. If you don't respond your account gets suspended.

Hmm. No emails to me about my site violating any rules.

In fact my website followed their TOS to a tee. I wasn't using their services as a way of backing up my files. Hell I didn't even host my videos on their servers just linked from my pages.

I am a VERY angry costumer. Just thought I'd share with y'all so you'll avoid this "business" at all costs.

I wish they had a BBB so I could report these wankers.

That is awful especially since you paid for 6 months. I use 50 megs.com and have used them for years and never had a bit of trouble with them and I have my own email there which is really nice. I can actually have 100 emails there but I only have ones for my kids and for myself there.

The best hosting online is dreamhost. Employee owned etc.

check it out and if you like it pm me and i'll send you a code to waive set up fees

I host my photography there and could not be more pleased. 3+ years and the tech support is beyond compare

good luck!

Thanks for the tip, Jase! I've been wanting to create a website for a while now. Also need to create one for someone else.

So the plot thickens.

My website isn't deleted supposedly!

I dug and dug and dug on the internet and finally found a forum about 110mb.com

Turns out the box in which my website is stored is down.

They took it down Saturday at 0400. And they don't expect it to be up again until Dec 16th.

No email telling me and apologizing for the downtime. No notice on their website. Nothing. Bravo on their part for GOOD customer service.

I will never reup my 6 months.

Once my 6 months is up I'll be switching.

And thanks everyone for the alternative web hosting ideas! biggrin.gif

That really is dreadful, I use Hostgator to host one of my sites and I have the Business plan which gives me unlimited storage, bandwidth and domains, unlimited email and ftp accounts.

I must say the service from hostgator truly is great, I have rarely had issues, infact one time my site got hacked (it was not their fault), yet I went on to their live customer service chat got fast answers, they were very polite and understanding, and best still within minutes they got the problem fixed and assisted in any cleaning up required. They are certainly the best hosting service I have ever used.

Thanks for the warning supermep.

For me, I don't really use paid hosting services, I mainly use free services like webs, etc.

One of the biggest problems with hosting providers is that some providers will delete users files without the users permission espically if the hosting service believes that they files might be a copyright violation.

This is one of the reasons why some musicians won't put their music up for free download.

But thanks for the warning.
